  • Publication number: 20050227180
Abstract: The method and apparatus make a printing plate such as a lithographic printing plate by exposing an original plate of the printing plate such as a presensitized plate in a substantially oxygen-free state. The method and apparatus deprive substantially of oxygen at least an exposed area of the original plate being exposed to light at least during exposure and expose the original plate to the light at a wavelength of between 250 nm and 420 nm. The original plate has on a support an image recording layer containing a polymerization initiator, a polymerizable compound and a binder polymer, being sensitive to the light at the wavelengths of between 250 nm and 420 nm, having no oxygen barrier layer, and being removable with a printing ink and/or a fountain solution. That is, a latent image is formed by photo-polymerization on the original plate and the original plate is subjected to development on a printing press.

  • Patent number: 6902330
Abstract: A printing plate processing apparatus provides a step in which a printing plate which has undergone image exposure is processed by being immersed in a developing solution, and the printing plate is delivered while the developing solution is being squeezed out from the printing plate by a conveying roller pair which is partially immersed in the developing solution. A stoppage time of the apparatus is measured, and the conveying roller pair is driven to rotate for an amount of time set in accordance with a measured result of the stoppage time when operation of the apparatus is started, thereby allowing the conveying rollers to be cleaned. A concentration of carbon dioxide in an environment in which the apparatus is installed is detected, and based on the detected result and the measured result of the apparatus stoppage time, the driving time of the conveying roller pair is set.

  • Publication number: 20050068414
Abstract: The present invention is to provide an image forming method for a planographic printing plate. In the method, a planographic printing plate precursor in which an image recording layer containing a thermally sensitive and thermally curable material is formed on an aluminium support is scanning exposed with a relatively weak laser beam, and a latent image is formed, which is composed of an image recording layer part whose surface layer is thermally cured corresponding to an image and an unexposed image recording layer part which is not thermally cured. The unexposed image recording layer part which is not thermally cured is then removed by simple water development. Then, by carrying out heating, the whole image recording layer part remaining on the surface of the aluminum support is uniformly cured and firmly fixed. The invention also provides an image forming apparatus for a planographic printing plate.

  • Publication number: 20020148822
Abstract: In an automatic developing device, a preheating chamber comprises a heater and a circulation fan for adjusting the heating temperature for a photo polymer plate. A method for washing a roller in a desensitizing processing section is disclosed with a water supply bucket above the roller. A developing section of a processing device comprises a circulation pump and a spray pipe for smoothly substituting the developing liquid in the vicinity of a PS plate. By repeating supplying and stopping of electric power per every half cycle of an alternating current voltage based on the set operation time, the effective voltage is supplied when washing the roller after starting driving of the processing device. A liquid replenishing pattern depends on the configuration of a conveying path in the developing vessel in the processing device and a type of plates.

  • Patent number: 4875080
Abstract: A developing apparatus wherein a developer is supplied to an exposed electrophotographic film to develop an image formed on the film has a developing section provided with an electrode which is disposed in opposing relation to the film. A bias voltage of the same polarity as that of the film which is electrically charged is applied to the electrode to prevent fogging of the image. The bias voltage is lowered or made opposite in polarity for a relatively short period of time, thereby momentarily improving the adhesion of the developer to the film, and thus allowing the developer to reliably adhere even to a relatively low density portion of the image.

  • Patent number: 4809642
Abstract: A pipeline arranged so that any bubbles mixed in a liquid developer can be prevented from being delivered to a developing section. A main pipe through which the pumped developer flows is communicated at its lower end with a branched pipe. A branched pipe which is communicated with the developing section is connected to the branched pipe through a portion which is sloped downward in a direction in which the developer flows. Accordingly, air bubbles in the developer having reached the branched pipe are allowed to rise in the sloped portion to return to the branched pipe. There is therefore no fear of air bubbles being supplied to the developing section.

  • Patent number: 4727393
Abstract: A processing head for an electrophotographic apparatus has a developing section for developing an electrophotographic film with a liquid developer, and a drying section disposed adjacent to and on the downstream side of the developing section in the direction in which the film is advanced, to dry the film wetted with the developer by passing a gas in a direction that intersects the film advancing direction. The drying section is provided with a pair of frame members extending in a direction that intersects the film advancing direction so as to define both ends of the drying section in the film advancing direction. In addition, a pair of recesses are formed along opposing walls of the frame members, respectively. Accordingly, the flow rate of the gas passed through the recesses is higher than that of the gas passed along the other portion between the frame members.

  • Patent number: 4622915
Abstract: In a developing head of an electrophotographic system which develops an image by bringing a liquid developer into contact with a photosensitive face of electrophotographic material, through an opening provided in the developing head, a right angle is formed between the photosensitive face and the in-flow and out-flow route for the liquid developer and a gas for removing excess developer at the opening. A pressure-reducing chamber is formed between a frame around the opening and a frame surrounding the pressure-reducing chamber, both frames tightly contacting the electrophotosensitive material. Thus, the gap between the photosensitive face and a developing electrode is reduced and high speed for the gas for removing the developer is obtained. Liquid developer exuding from the frame around the opening is captured in the pressure-reducing chamber.
