  • Patent number: 6568883
Abstract: A reamer includes: (a) an axially-distal-end small-diameter portion; (b) a guide portion which is axially adjacent to the small-diameter portion; (c) at least one flute which is formed in an outer circumferential surface of the reamer and which extends from the axially distal end of the reamer toward the axially distal end of the reamer; and (d) at least one land surface which is circumferentially adjacent to the flute. The land has a cutting blade portion formed therein in the axially-distal-end small-diameter portion. A first radial distance from an axis of the reamer to a radically outer end of the cutting blade portion is larger than a second radial distance from the axis to the land surface in the axially-distal-end small-diameter portion. The first radial distance is smaller than a third radial distance from the axis to the land surface in the guide portion.

  • Patent number: 6072259
Abstract: A stator core for a motor in which a member with rounded edges is used to prevent the electrical breakdown of the winding of a coil which may occur at a slot edge therein. End plates 18 are disposed on ends of the stator core 10 formed of laminated magnetic steel plates 12. Each of the end plates 18 has substantially the same pattern as each magnetic steel plate 1, viewed from the axis of the motor. The elongate surface 18a of the end plate 18 continues smoothly from the inner surface 16a of each of slots 16 to the rounded edge surface 18b. The rounded edge surface extends smoothly from the elongate surface 18a to the end surface 18c of the end plate 18. This structure can eliminate sharp edges from the fringe of the slot 16, thus preventing the electrical breakdown of a coated conductor 22 in the coil which may occur at the edges.

  • Patent number: 5710273
Abstract: A complex crystal is composed of anion of triiodine and cation of a fused compound consisting essentially of at least one nitrogen atom and at least 3 aromatic fused rings. Since the complex crystal has such a stable structure, it shows excellent heat resistance and excellent moisture resisting property. Furthermore, the complex crystal has light-polarizing performance because of an arrangement of the molecular chain of iodine. Moreover, the complex crystal exhibits excellent polarization because of an interaction between the fused compound and iodine. Therefore, the complex crystal is suitable for use as light-adjusting particles of a light valve or a light-adjusting glass.

  • Patent number: 5368368
Abstract: End portions of elastic fibers are fixed to a holder plate as well as a holder cover constituting a seat surface of a vehicle seat, thereby spanning the elastic fibers. A net-shaped seat portion is thus formed of the elastic fibers. The holder plate and the holder cover are suspended on the elastic fibers in the upper-diagonal direction. The elastic fibers thus strained are overlaid with urethane foam, and a cushion member is formed by a urethane pad. Meanwhile, the holder cover is pulled by a spring in the lower-diagonal direction so as to impart an initial tensile force to the elastic fibers, whereby deflections are eliminated. When an occupant's weight acts on the vehicle seat with the above construction, the vehicle seat deflects downward, with a predetermined deflection curve being drawn. However, both end portions of the elastic fibers are suspended on the elastic fibers in the upper-diagonal direction.

  • Patent number: 5312208
Abstract: A burnishing drill includes a cylindrical shank and a drill body connected to the shank. Drilling edges, first reaming edges and second reaming edges are formed on a first reduced diameter portion, a second reduced-diameter portion and a third reduced-diameter portion respectively located at a foremost end of the drill body. Each of the reaming edges is inclined with respect to the longitudinal axis of the drill at an angle which is set so as to be within a range of between 5.degree. and 30.degree.. During a boring operation using the drill, a hole is drilled by the drilling edges and the drilled hole is then worked by the first reaming edges and the second reaming edges to provide a smooth inner wall in the drilled hole. Since each of the reaming edges is formed to extend radially outward from the foremost end of the drill and incline axially in the rearward direction at a relatively small angle, the centering property can be greatly improved.

  • Patent number: 5282705
Abstract: A burnishing drill includes a cylindrical shank and a drill body connected to the shank. Drilling edges, reaming faces and reaming edges are formed on a first reduced-diameter portion, a second reduced-diameter portion and a third reduced-diameter portion located at a foremost end of the drill body respectively. The reaming faces which are located axially at backward positions of the drilling edges and the reaming edges extend radially outward from the foremost end of the drill and incline axially in the rearward direction, and also extend radially outward and incline in the rearward direction with respect of the rotational direction. Since an inner surface of the hole drilled and reamed by the drilling edges and the reaming edges can be further smoothed by the reaming faces, the surface roughness of the finished hole can be much improved.

The drilling edges are inclined diametrically from the center of the forward end to the axially rearward direction, while the outermost peripheral wall of the drilling edges are on a reduced-diameter portion of the maximum external diameter of the drill body. The reaming edges extend from the plane intersecting the drilling edges radially from a position inward of the outermost peripheral of the drilling edges, outwards, so as to incline axially in the forward direction with a second cutting angle. A reduced diameter portion extends axially backward from the outermost peripheral wall of the drilling edges. An enlarged-diameter guide face extends axially from a slope behind the corresponding drilling edge in the rotational direction, and the forwardmost end of the enlarged guide face is located axially behind the corresponding reaming edge.
