  • Patent number: 5875859
Abstract: A device for controlling the drilling direction of drills includes a cylinder-type housing 6, a first ring-formed component 11 which is located on an inner peripheral surface that is eccentric with respect to the cylinder-type housing 6, a second ring-formed component 12 which is located on the inner peripheral surface that is eccentric with respect to the circular inner surface of the first ring-formed component 11, and hollow-type harmonized reduction gears 13,14 which rotate the first and second ring-formed components 11,12 relatively around their respective centers. A resolver is positioned between the first and second ring-formed components 11,12 and the hollow-type harmonized reduction gears 13,14 to detect the rotating angular position of the first and second ring-formed components 11,12. A fulcrum bearing 8 of the rotating shaft 2 is located at a midpoint between the drill bit and the first and second ring formed components 11,12.

  • Patent number: 5553233
Abstract: A management apparatus for volume-medium correspondence information for use in a dual file system. A volume-medium correspondence information management table stores volume-medium correspondence information. Also included is a volume-medium correspondence information storage file. The volume-medium correspondence information in the volume-medium correspondence information management table is written to the volume-medium correspondence information storage file. The volume-medium correspondence information in the volume-medium correspondence information management table is updated. The volume-medium correspondence information is recovered when the dual file system is to be reactuated. A volume in an off-line state is provisionally allocated to dual files including a blockaded medium based on the volume-medium correspondence information management table.

  • Patent number: 5369862
Abstract: A piezoelectric device is essentially composed of a piezoelectric transducer and a light transmitting protector. The protector is made of heat resisting glass, heat resisting acrylic, transparent ceramics or the like. By exposing the piezoelectric device to a laser beam and thereby causing it to penetrate through the protector to the piezoelectric transducer and to partly cut the surface of the piezoelectric transducer, or to change the intensity of polarization, mechanical coupling coefficient or dielectric constant of the piezoelectric transducer, its vibration frequency and resonance characteristic can be adjusted. If an ultraviolet-ray setting agent is used as adhesive, it can be hardened by exposing the piezoelectric device to ultraviolet rays to thereby cause it penetrate through the protector.

  • Patent number: 5353884
Abstract: The present invention relates to a positioning device capable of positioning a member in any direction with a high degree of resolution by using a hollow type harmonic drive mechanism, and to a drilling-direction control device for a drilling system utilizing the positioning device. The device of the present invention is mainly constituted by a double eccentric mechanism section (10). A first annular member (12) is rotatably supported by a circular inner circumferential surface (11a) of the cylindrical member (11) of this mechanism section, and a second annular member (13) is rotatably supported by a circular inner circumferential surface (11b) of the first annular member.

  • Patent number: 5316090
Abstract: An attitude control device has a plurality of harmonic drive mechanisms of the hollow type, preferably first and second harmonic drive mechanisms. First and second rotational members are connected to the outputs of the first and second harmonic drive mechanisms. These rotational members have eccentric hollow portions which rotate eccentrically around the rotational axes of the harmonic drive mechanisms. A member to be driven is placed to extend through the eccentric hollow portions such that it is supportedly contacted with the inner surfaces of the eccentric hollow portions. In operation, the eccentric hollow portions are rotated relative to each other, whereby the member to be driven is controllably oriented to a desired direction. The attitude control device can be employed as a drillingdirection control device wherein a rotational drill shaft is supported by inner surfaces of eccentric hollow portions of first and second rotational members.
