  • Patent number: 9622011
Abstract: Embodiments are described for a system for virtual rendering of object based audio through binaural rendering of each object followed by panning of the resulting stereo binaural signal between a plurality of cross-talk cancelation circuits feeding a corresponding plurality of speaker pairs. In comparison to prior art virtual rendering utilizing a single pair of speakers, the described embodiments improve the spatial impression for both listeners inside and outside of the cross-talk canceller sweet spot. Also described is an improved equalization technique for a crosstalk canceller that is computed from both the crosstalk canceller filters and the binaural filters and applied to a monophonic audio signal being virtualized. The described techniques improve timbre for listeners outside of the sweet-spot as well as a smaller timbre shift when switching from standard rendering to virtual rendering.

  • Patent number: 9619199
Abstract: In an audio encoder, for audio content received in a source audio format, default gains are generated based on a default dynamic range compression (DRC) curve, and non-default gains are generated for a non-default gain profile. Based on the default gains and non-default gains, differential gains are generated. An audio signal comprising the audio content, the default DRC curve, and differential gains is generated. In an audio decoder, the default DRC curve and the differential gains are identified from the audio signal. Default gains are re-generated based on the default DRC curve. Based on the combination of the re-generated default gains and the differential gains, operations are performed on the audio content extracted from the audio signal.

  • Publication number: 20170095657
Abstract: An illustrative anchoring mechanism is provided for attachment to an implantable subcutaneous lead to facilitate anchoring at the distal tip of the lead. The anchoring mechanism is attached to an opening in a distal portion of a subcutaneous lead prior to implantation. The anchoring mechanism may be designed to avoid covering the sensing electrode of the subcutaneous lead, to prevent interference with sensing. Use of such an apparatus may reduce the number of incisions needed to perform implantation.

  • Publication number: 20170098494
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for manufacturing a conductive thin film are provided. In one arrangement, compositions of nanowires having different mean aspect ratios are mixed together and applied as a layer on a substrate. In other arrangements a single composition of nanowires is processed in order to increase an aspect ratio variance and the processed composition is applied as a layer on a substrate. The layers thus applied provide an improved balance of electrical conductivity to transparency and are expected to provide improved isotropy in the inplane conductivity.

  • Publication number: 20170099042
Abstract: Embodiments of a Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) device, or filter, and methods of fabrication thereof are disclosed. In some embodiments, the SAW filter comprises a piezoelectric substrate and an Interdigitated Transducer (IDT) on a surface of the piezoelectric substrate. The IDT includes multiple fingers, each comprising a metal stack. The cap layer has a thickness in a range of and including 10 to 500 Angstroms and a high electrical resistivity (and thus a low electrical conductivity). For instance, in some embodiments, the electrical resistivity of the cap layer is greater than 10 kilo-ohm meters (K?·m). The SAW filter further includes an oxide overcoat layer on a surface of the cap layer opposite the IDT and the piezoelectric substrate.

  • Publication number: 20170098481
Abstract: Flow induced vibration (FIV) at the slip joint between a nuclear reactor jet pump mixer and diffuser is suppressed without installing additional parts or altering the jet pump construction. The disclosed method determines a relationship between reactor operating conditions that trigger FIV and the magnitude of a mixer/diffuser transverse contact load. A mathematical analysis on a representative jet pump configuration determines the quantitative relationship between mixer/diffuser cold positions and their positions when the reactor is operating. Thus, a prediction can be made as to whether an installed jet pump will experience FIV, and the mixer and diffuser can be positioned by a mixer adjustment tool when the reactor is cold to provide the necessary operational transverse contact load. Alternatively, a contact load measuring tool directly measures the magnitude and direction of the cold mixer/diffuser transverse contact load to determine if FIV will be suppressed when the reactor is operating.

  • Publication number: 20170099254
Abstract: Systems, methods, apparatuses, and software for operating content delivery networks are provided herein. In one example, a method of operating a domain name translation node in a first point-of-presence of a content delivery network is presented. The method includes receiving a translation message issued by an end user device for translation of a domain name into a content network address, and processing the translation message to identify a network address of a node that transferred the translation message. The method also includes selecting the content network address based at least in part on correlations between network addresses and performance factors to direct the end user device to a target cache node at a point-of-presence different than the point-of-presence of the domain name translation node, and transferring a response message indicating the content network address which directs the end user device to the target cache node at the second point-of-presence.

  • Publication number: 20170098925
Abstract: A manually-operated wire stripper is a device for cutting and removing the electrical insulation from an electrical wire. The device includes a base plate onto which a first mounting plate and a second mounting plate are perpendicularly mounted. A first rod is rotatably mounted through the first mounting plate and the second mounting plate. A cutting assembly is mounted for longitudinal movement to the first rod and may be moved into position such that a blade of the cutting assembly is aligned with a selected slot from a plurality of wire slots traversing through the base plate. An electrical wire may be stripped by inserting the electrical wire through the selected slot, creating a cut in the electrical insulation with the blade, and then manually pulling the electrical wire through the selected slot to remove the electrical insulation along the length of the electrical wire.
