  • Patent number: 9236712
Abstract: A frequency tuneable or chirped laser device is described that includes a laser cavity formed from a plurality of optical components. The optical components include a laser source for generating a beam of light, a spectral tuning element and one or more further optical components for directing the beam of light on to the spectral tuning element. At least one of the plurality of optical components is moveable in a first degree of freedom; such movement simultaneously altering the effective optical path length of the laser cavity and the tuning frequency of the spectral tuning element. The effective optical path length and the tuning frequency of the device are substantially insensitive to any movement of said at least one moveable optical component in degrees of freedom other than the first degree of freedom. This provides frequency tuning in which mode hopping is suppressed.

  • Patent number: 9234452
Abstract: The disclosure describes an engine system having liquid and gaseous fuel systems, each of which injects fuel directly into an engine cylinder. A controller monitors and controls engine operation in a normal mode, during which the engine produces rated power, and in a limp-home mode, which is used when an abnormal operating condition of the gaseous fuel system is present. During limp-home mode operation, the engine uses more liquid fuel and less or no gaseous fuel relative to the normal mode, and produces power that is less than rated power.

  • Patent number: 9237121
Abstract: An appliance and a method for permission-based email filtering capable of scanning outgoing emails to ensure the emails comply with Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation or similar rules. In one embodiment of the invention, the system intercepts outgoing emails and redirects the email to a remote server. The server compares the recipient's email address to a consent database and distributes the email to the appropriate recipient depending on whether consent from the recipient is known or unknown. If the recipient has previously denied their consent, the recipient is removed from the list of recipients for the email message and the message is not sent to that recipient. In another embodiment of the invention, the system adds a unsubscribe mechanism to the email message.
