  • Publication number: 20030107594
Abstract: A method of mapping screen display objects located by spatial coordinates into a Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) table. The spatial coordinates for each screen display object are determined, and an HTML table having rows and columns is created, wherein row heights and column widths are determined by the spatial coordinates. The screen display objects are then loaded into cells of the HTML table for display, as determined by computation based on the spatial coordinates.

  • Patent number: 5715456
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided that significantly reduces the inconvenience of placing a computer system in a useful state. The invention quickly boots the system without preinstalling the operating system and allows installation of the operating system to occur without usurping the computer's resources from a user. A full version of the operating system is made accessible to the user by a boot device having sufficient capacity to hold the full operating system. A local media of the computer system is formatted so that the operating system may perform memory management functions, such as paging and swapping, if necessary. Consequently, the system is usable without requiring preinstallation of the operating system. The files relating to the operating system may be transferred from a boot device to a local media at a more convenient time, or performed as a concurrent or background process.

  • Patent number: 5569830
Abstract: The present invention provides isolated nucleic acid sequences encoding plant polygalacturonase inhibitor proteins (PGIP) which inhibit the activity of fungal polygalacturonases. Transgenic plants expressing a heterologous PGIP show increased resistance to fungi which normally infect the plants.

  • Patent number: 4582238
Abstract: A riveting apparatus comprises a portable riveting assembly which may be hand held or mounted on a robot arm. The assembly comprises a C-frame having an anvil mounted on one arm and a hydraulic ram mounted on the other arm. Rivets are supplied to a head assembly located between the anvil and piston rod via a flexible tube having a T-shaped cross-section. After a rivet has been supplied it is held positively in position ready for setting within pocket members by air pressure supplied along tube. Thus, the assembly can be moved rapidly and used in various orientations without displacing the rivet. Connections between the assembly and rivet supply and hydraulic power source are by way of flexible connections.

  • Patent number: 4445363
Abstract: An inspection device detects flooding in a hollow structural member such as the leg of an oil or gas rig so as to detect the presence of through wall cracks in the member. The device comprises an ultrasonic transducer for transmitting a pulsed beam of ultrasonic sound to pass through opposing faced walls or wall portions of the member and a visual indicator responsive to time spaced echoes of the ultrasonic beam reflected respectively from the opposing walls or wall portions and received by the transducer to indicate the presence or absence of flooding in the member. The transducer is located in the bridge plate of a jig and its beam passes through an aperture in a support frame of the jig. The support frame has a pair of spaced magnetic feet attached to a bracket on the frame and a further magnetic foot secured to the frame, the feet permitting the jig to be clamped onto a steel rig member so that the transducer can be optimally aligned with the member to optimize received echoes.
