  • Publication number: 20070267312
Abstract: Methods for heat treating glass sheets (13) are disclosed in which the sheets (13) are held in a vertical orientation in a treatment container (15) during the heat treatment. The container (15) includes a support system for the glass sheets (13) that comprises a bottom support (17), two side supports (19a, 19b), and a top support (21). The sheets (13) are slid into the container (15) without contact between their side edges (23a, 23b) and the side supports (19a, 19b). The top support (21) is then slid onto the tops of the sheets (13) without contacting the sheets' top edges (25). In certain embodiments, flushing air which has been HEPA filtered and pre-heated is passed through the container (15) during the heat treatment. Apparatus for practicing the methods of the invention are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20070015799
Abstract: This invention relates to compounds of formula (I) which are glyoxalase I inhibitors, pharmaceutical salts or compositions comprising such compounds, and the use of such compositions and compounds to treat various conditions alleviated by the inhibition of glyoxalase 1. Wherein X is N or CH. R2 is H, CF3; or optionally substituted C5-6 aryl, C3-7 cycloalkyl, C5-7 heterocyclyl. R3 is H; or optionally substituted C5-6 aryl, C3-7 cycloalkyl, C5-7 heterocyclyl. Alternatively R2 and R3 together form an optionally substituted C3-4alkylene group wherein L3 and L4 are single bonds thus forming a C5-6 ring fused with the aromatic ring to which L3 and L4 are attached. L3 and L4 are independently selected from a single bond, optionally substituted C1-4 alkylene, -L9YN(OH)C(?O)L10- and -L9C(?O)N(OH)YL10-, wherein L9 and L10 are independently selected from optionally substituted C1-4 alkylene, C5-6 arylene, C1-4 alkylene-C5-6arylene and a single bond, wherein Y is NH or a single bond.

  • Publication number: 20050221487
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for enhancing the proliferation and/or hematopoietic differentiation and/or maintenance of mammalian stem cells. The method is useful for generating expanded populations of hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) and thus mature blood cell lineages. This is desirable where a mammal has suffered a decrease in hematopoietic or mature blood cells as a consequence of disease, radiation or chemotherapy. The method of the present invention comprises increasing the intracellular level of a cdx in stem cells, including hematopoietic stem cells, in culture, either by providing an exogenous cdx protein to the cell, or by introduction into the cell of a genetic construct encoding a cdx. The cdx is selected from the cdx family and includes cdx1, cdx2, or cdx4. The cdx may be a wild type protein appropriate for the species from which the cells are derived, or a mutant form of the protein.

  • Patent number: 6775360
Abstract: A system and method for providing textual content along with voice messages is presented. A caller at a calling station places a call to a callee at a receiving station. The call is placed through a connection, and the receiving station includes a callee's phone linked to a callee's computer. The call is recorded at the calling station to generate voice data. The call is then transcribed based on the voice data to generate the textual content of the call. The textual content is sent by the calling station to a server via the connection. The server then transfers the textual content, as well as voice data received by the server, to an electronic incoming mailbox of the callee as electronic mail.

  • Patent number: 6434121
Abstract: A computer connected to an ISDN central office switch via an ISDN digital subscriber line, provides management information regarding activities of a plurality of telephone agents. The computer has shared call appearances with a number of telephone agent stations and receives shared call appearance associated messages from the switch reflecting call handling messages exchanged between the ISDN switch and each of the agent stations. The messages are interpreted by the computer, which generates station status information and management information such as the number of calls handled, average holding time per call, etc. The computer may be connected simultaneously to several central offices via ISDN subscriber lines and generate management information for a group of geographically separated agents, such as home telemarketing agents operating out of their individual homes and connected to different central offices.

  • Patent number: 5882604
Abstract: A reactor system that can safely use general purpose electrical devices and unregulated surface temperature heat sources even though a flammable and/or combustible substance is being processed in the reactor or is within the processing area. The reactor system includes a reaction vessel and at least one process control device proximate the reaction vessel which is a possible ignition source for flammable and combustible materials. A shroud encloses the ignition source within a chamber and the chamber is provided with an inactive environment which is effective for preventing the ignition source from igniting any flammable or combustible substance that may enter the chamber.
