  • Publication number: 20080097896
Abstract: An electronic auction system may include a bid validator connected between a network and a customer database. The example bid validator may receive bid information from a customer over the network. The example bid validator may use the bid information to detect whether the customer database includes a customer record for the customer. If no customer record is found in the customer database, the example bid validator may initiate creation of a new customer record and place it in the customer database.

  • Publication number: 20060193868
Abstract: Graphitic nanotubes, which includes tubular fullerenes (commonly called “buckytubes”) and fibrils, which are functionalized by chemical substitution or by adsorption of functional moieties. More specifically the invention relates to graphitic nanotubes which are uniformly or non-uniformly substituted with chemical moieties or upon which certain cyclic compounds are adsorbed and to complex structures comprised of such functionalized fibrils linked to one another. The invention also relates to methods of introducing functional groups onto the surface of such fibrils.

  • Patent number: 6955660
Abstract: An adaptor for connecting a syringe to an aspiration and/or irrigation device, typically a medical device such as a catheter, cannula or needle, is described herein. The adaptor is comprised of two components: a deformable elastomeric expansion sleeve and a relatively rigid insertion body. The expansion sleeve is essentially an elastomeric plug that forms a tight seal about the inner and outer surfaces of the syringe tip when deformed by the relatively rigid insertion body. The adaptor assembly described herein allows for full visualization of the syringe contents when in use and is compatible with multiple syringe components. The adaptor assembly is also relatively easy to manufacture and maintain. It provides a fluid-seal that adequately tolerates the mechanical loads such as torsion, mechanical moment, shear, and longitudinal loads expected during normal use.

  • Publication number: 20050144035
Abstract: A method and system for providing order status information using an update status flag to receive status information pertaining to an order placed by a customer with a merchant. It is determined whether the received status information is new relative to further status information pertaining to the order stored within a status record. The status record is updated to include the received status information if the received status information is new. The updated message indicating the received status information is then composed and sent to the customer.

  • Patent number: 6872900
Abstract: A double throw switch linkage for coupling two switch apparatuses together in an enclosure. Each switch apparatus is coupled to the switch mechanism having a switch mechanism lever arm. When the lever arm is moved it translates a force to the actuator plate which closes one switch mechanism and maintains the other switch mechanism in an open position.

  • Patent number: 6576591
Abstract: A coding scheme to identify the connections an optical fiber is to form in an optical assembly is provided. The coding scheme consists of a series of colors, typically four, provided along the fiber length. The combination of colors identifies the connection the fiber is to form. Colors are transferred to the optical fiber by sublimation of the dye at a relatively low temperature. The sublimed dye then diffuses into the outer coating of the optical fiber.

  • Patent number: 6019685
Abstract: A golf putting aid device for practicing putting golf balls. The golf putting aid device includes a base plate and a pair of elongated members positioned on the base plate in parallel alignment for guiding a head of a golf putter along a linear path and wherein a cut out is formed in a periphery of the base plate, centrally of said elongated members, for resting a golf ball on a ground surface on which the base plate is adapted to be positioned. Each of the elongated members has a uniform L-shaped cross-section along a length thereof. Each angled member has a substantially planar rectangular bottom extent. The bottom extent of each elongate member is selectively adjustable along an axis perpendicular with the path to accommodate golf heads of varying widths. In an embodiment the base plate includes a plurality of slots for permitting adjustment of the elongate members.

  • Patent number: 5768223
Abstract: An audio device includes a plurality of control cards and an audio unit. Each control card has an edge margin provided with an identification label for identifying the same. The identification label includes an insulator portion and at least two electrically connected conductive strips on the insulator portion. The audio unit includes an audio housing formed with a card slot to permit extension of the edge margin of one of the control cards into the audio housing, and a memory module disposed in the audio housing for storing digitized audio data corresponding to the control cards therein. A control circuit controls the output of the digitized audio data from the memory module. A plurality of electrically conductive stripes connect the control circuit to the identification label on the edge margin of the control card that is extended into the card slot of the audio housing.

  • Patent number: 4034714
Abstract: A stimulating and valving system is disclosed that is useful for milking of animals such as cows. A stimulator, that includes one or more stimulator units each of which has biased elements, is releasably positioned on one or more teats of the animal to be milked and a warm liquid such as water is connected through the stimulator units and ejected therefrom onto the associated teat or teats in order to induce milk let down. Each biased element has resilient gripping teeth to engage the teats of the animal to be stimulated. After the supply of liquid is terminated and the teat cups of a milking apparatus have been positioned on the animal, milk is withdrawn from the animal through a valve under the control of a control unit that has an input responsive to the temperature of the milk being withdrawn.
