Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for generation of lower-frequency tactile energy (e.g., vibration) of a vehicle system based on audio signals. In one example, a method may include acquiring an audio signal from an audio system, generating a motor input command, and applying the motor input command to at least a first traction motor and a second traction motor to create a resultant vibrational force.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are embodiments of a training lab that can be used as a teaching platform for individuals to learn electronic maintenance, such as transformer maintenance. The training lab can be either stationary or mobile, or can switch between the two modes. Modified transformers, or other equipment, can be incorporated into the lab to improve training.

Abstract: A server may receive a new story. The server may calculate a base score for the new story. The server may identify a set of stories received prior to the new story with which the new story overlaps. For each story in the set of stories, the server may compute a current score that the story in the set of stories would receive if the story in the set of stories were received at the same time as the new story. The server may identify a lower bound story in the set of stories having an original score and having a current score nearest to and lower than the base score for the new story and an upper bound story in the set of stories having an original score and having a current score nearest to and higher than the base score for the new story. The server may assign a score to the new story based on the original score of the lower bound story and the original score of the upper bound story.

Abstract: Responsive to a server determining that at least one term of a story signature of a first news story matches at least one term of the story signature of a second news story of a list of top news stories derived from a set of first news feeds, the server may replace the second news story in the list with the first news story. The server may transmit to a client a set of top news stories from a set of second news feeds having stories which match one or more topics of the stories in the list of top news stories derived from the set of first news feeds.

Abstract: A server may receive a request from a client for a list of stories pertaining to a topic or the server may initiate pushing to the client the list of stories pertaining to the topic. The server obtains a first list of stories pertaining to the topic belonging to a set of first news feeds. The server computes an initial story score for each story in the first list of stories from a set of key terms scores, wherein each key term score corresponds to the number of times that the key term appears in a second list of stories pertaining to the topic belonging to a set of second news feeds. The server outputs a set of top stories from the first list of stories based on a tradeoff between the amount of overlap in key terms among the stories in the first list of stories and a combination of the initial story scores of the stories in the first list of stories.

Abstract: Analytical methods using hydrogen/deuterium exchange are provided which reduce or eliminate the back-exchange of deuterium for hydrogen. The methods, which are useful in protein and peptide mapping, include the steps of (a) providing a peptide or protein comprising a solvent accessible hydrogen; (b) exchanging the solvent accessible hydrogen for a deuterium; (c) separating the peptide or protein with supercritical fluid chromatography; and (d) analyzing by mass spectrometry the mass of the separated peptide or protein. Supercritical fluid chromatography enables the observation of fast exchanging hydrogen atoms missed using conventional liquid chromatography methods.

Abstract: A drill bit is disclosed for use in a percussion drilling apparatus of the type for boring into the earth. Embodiments of the drill bit comprise an elongate body with a first end, a second end, and a longitudinal surface extending between the first and second ends. Embodiments further comprise a plurality of splines on the longitudinal surface of the drill bit, with at least one of the plurality of splines comprising an apex, a root, and a planar surface between the apex and root. In preferred embodiments, the planar surface is oriented at an angle between 10 and 45 degrees to a plane extending from a center of the drill bit to a midpoint of the apex.

Abstract: A heterogeneous array includes clusters of processing elements. The clusters include a combination of ALUs and multiplexers linked by direct connections and various general-purpose routing networks. The multiplexers are controlled by the ALUs in the same cluster, or alternatively by ALUs in other clusters, via a special purpose routing network. Components of applications configured onto the array are selectively implemented in either multiplexers or ALUs, as determined by the relative efficiency of implementing the component in one or the other type of processing element, and by the relative availability of the processing element types. Multiplexer control signals are generated from combinations of ALU status signals, and optionally routed to control multiplexers in different clusters.

Abstract: A technique for displaying information from related tables of a database in different display windows on a display screen associated with a computer system is disclosed. The different display windows are interlinked such that a selection of one or more entries in one of the display windows causes the other of the display windows to distinguishably and orderly display those entries that are related to the selection. A graphical user interface (GUI) in which a main screen is produced having the interlinked display windows is also disclosed.
