Publication number: 20230186411Abstract: Embodiments optimize display ordering of reservable hotel room choices for a hotel. Embodiments receive a trained prediction demand model for the hotel, the trained prediction model including estimated coefficients, and receive a total inventory of hotel rooms for the hotel. Embodiments determine optimal Lagrangian coefficients from the estimated coefficients using a first iterative gradient search and determine optimized prices per customer based on the estimated coefficients and the optimal Lagrangian coefficients using a second iterative gradient search. Embodiments determine an offer order optimization per customer based on the optimal Lagrangian coefficients and using linear programming. Embodiments receive a request for a hotel room from a first customer, the request including one or more attributes. Based on the one or more attributes and the optimized prices per customer and the offer order optimization per customer, embodiments display an optimized ordered list of hotel room choices.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 10, 2021Publication date: June 15, 2023Applicant: Oracle International CorporationInventors: John Thomas COULTHURST, Denysse DIAZ, Jean-Philippe DUMONT, Chengyi LYU, Jorge Luis Rivero PEREZ, Andrew VAKHUTINSKY, Alan WOOD

Publication number: 20220414557Abstract: Embodiments generate a demand model for a potential hotel customer of a hotel room. Embodiments, based on features of the potential hotel customer, form a plurality of clusters, each cluster including a corresponding weight and cluster probabilities. Embodiments generate an initial estimated mixture of multinomial logit (“MNL”) models corresponding to each of the plurality of clusters, the mixture of MNL models including a weighted likelihood function based on the features and the weights. Embodiments determine revised cluster probabilities and update the weights. Embodiments estimate an updated estimated mixture of MNL models and maximize the weighted likelihood function based on the revised cluster probabilities and updated weights. Based on the update weights and updated estimated mixture of MNL models, embodiments generate the demand model that is adapted to predict a choice probability of room categories and rate code combinations for the potential hotel customer.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 11, 2021Publication date: December 29, 2022Inventors: Sanghoon CHO, Andrew VAKHUTINSKY, Alan WOOD, Jorge Luis Rivero PEREZ, Jean-Philippe DUMONT, John Thomas COULTHURST, Denysse DIAZ

Patent number: 11520834Abstract: Techniques are described for generating an approximate frequency histogram using a series of Bloom filters (BF). For example, to estimate the f1 and f2 cardinalities in a dataset, an ordered chain of three BFs is established (“BF1”, “BF2”, and “BF3”). An insertion operation is performed for each datum in the dataset, whereby the BFs are tested in order (starting at BF1) for the datum. If the datum is represented in a currently-tested BF, the subsequent BF in the chain is tested for the datum. If the datum is not represented in the currently-tested BF, the datum is added to the BF, a counter for the BF is incremented, and the insertion operation for the current datum ends. To estimate the cardinality of f1-values in the dataset, the BF2-counter is subtracted from the BF1-counter. Similarly, to estimate the cardinality of f2-values in the dataset, the BF3-counter is subtracted from the BF2-counter.Type: GrantFiled: July 28, 2021Date of Patent: December 6, 2022Assignee: Oracle International CorporationInventors: Tomas Karnagel, Suratna Budalakoti, Onur Kocberber, Nipun Agarwal, Alan Wood

Patent number: 11074516Abstract: Dynamic generation and implementation of assignment mappings of data items in large data files to distributed processors to achieve objectives such as reduced overall processing time like. Any appropriate key (e.g., character string) can be identified or obtained for each data item in a data file and the file can be segmented into sequential data blocks, where each data block includes a set of data items. The data items in each of a first plurality of the blocks (e.g., sampled block set) may be initially sorted into one of a plurality of key ranges of a search space (each corresponding to a different respective processor) and analyses conducted on the data items totals in each key range. The key range boundaries can be adjusted by accounting for uncertainty in the sample estimates to more evenly distribute data items from all blocks sent to each processor and thereby achieve the objective.Type: GrantFiled: January 26, 2018Date of Patent: July 27, 2021Assignee: ORACLE INTERNATIONAL CORPORATIONInventors: Randall Smith, Suratna Budalakoti, Alan Wood

Patent number: 10428979Abstract: A composite pipe comprises a polyetheretherketone innermost pipe around which a reinforcing overwrap is arranged. A protective sheath surrounds the overwrap. Such a composite pipe may be made by selecting a polyetheretherketone pipe having an outer region having a crystallinity of less than 25%; overlaying the selected pipe with overwrap; and subjecting the combination to heat, thereby causing the crystallinity of the outer region of the polyetheretherketone pipe to increase. The method reduces the risk of pipe failure.Type: GrantFiled: October 15, 2015Date of Patent: October 1, 2019Assignee: VICTREX MANUFACTURING LIMITEDInventors: Alan Wood, Horst Sandner

Patent number: 10353900Abstract: The present invention provides a re-partitioning-based sampling system and method which provides for generating a synopsis from large database tables such that an aggregation query performed on the synopsis provides an approximate answer to the aggregation query which is in prescribed error bounds relative to a query on the full database. The system includes a partition function generator, a synopsis vector calculator, and a synopsis constructor. The synopsis constructed by the system is sufficiently small to be held in memory to allow quick and resource efficient satisficing of aggregation queries.Type: GrantFiled: July 24, 2015Date of Patent: July 16, 2019Assignee: ORACLE INTERNATIONAL CORPORATIONInventors: Suratna Budalakoti, Alan Wood, Garret Swart, Smriti Ramakrishnan

Patent number: 10321253Abstract: An audio system for use in a confined space comprises N acoustic transducers, where N is an integer and N?2. Each acoustic transducer is configured to receive an audio signal for a respective channel of the audio system and to generate an acoustic signal therefrom, and is operably coupled to a respective filter having a phase response. The phase response of at least one of the filters is different from the phase response of at least one other of the filters at a frequency f having a corresponding wavelength ?=d/(n+½), where n is an integer and n?0 and d is a characteristic separation of two or more of the N acoustic transducers when in the confined space. Compensation is thereby achieved for a reduction in acoustic power that would otherwise occur over a range of frequencies of width ?f around frequency f.Type: GrantFiled: June 15, 2016Date of Patent: June 11, 2019Inventors: Richard Hollinshead, Michael Kapp, Alan Wood

Patent number: 10166727Abstract: A process for manufacturing an object by laser sintering comprises: (i) selecting a powder comprising a polymeric material having a repeat unit of formula —O—Ph—O—Ph—CO—Ph—??I and a repeat unit of formula —O—Ph—Ph—O—Ph—CO—Ph—??II wherein Ph represents a phenylene moiety; and (ii) selectively sintering the powder to produce the object. It is found that the polymer used can be advantageously recycled and blended with virgin material to produce a blend which has very similar mechanical properties and crystallinity compared to the virgin material. Thus, the polymer may be cost-effectively used in laser sintering.Type: GrantFiled: February 13, 2015Date of Patent: January 1, 2019Assignee: VICTREX MANUFACTURING LIMITEDInventors: Adam Chaplin, Alan Wood, Alice Victoria Mary Matthews
