Abstract: A wireless network gateway redirects a wireless client device to a wireless network hotspot device. The wireless network gateway includes a hotspot location determining component, a client location determining component, a redirecting component and a communication component. The hotspot location determining component determines the location of the wireless network hotspot device. The client location determining component determines the location of the wireless client device. The redirecting component generates a redirection instruction based on the location of the wireless network hotspot device and the location of the wireless client device. The communication component transmits the redirection instruction to the wireless client device to instruct the wireless client device to redirect to the wireless network hotspot device.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer readable media can be operable to facilitate automated repair analysis for client devices within a subscriber premise. A diagnostics controller may detect an error condition at a network element within a subscriber premise. When an error condition is detected, the diagnostics controller may retrieve identification information, an error code, and/or query parameters associated with the network element. The diagnostics controller may generate a query for repair analysis that includes the identification information, error code, and/or query parameters, and the diagnostics controller may output the query to an upstream server. In response, the diagnostics controller may receive a repair analysis that includes information associated with remedying the error condition. The diagnostics controller may generate and output for presentation a user interface that includes the information associated with remedying the error condition.

Abstract: A local area network (LAN) device pairs with an interne of things (IoT) device via a wireless mesh network and receives a status of the IoT device via the wireless mesh network. The LAN device stores the received IoT status with an IoT device identifier of the IoT device in an IoT device table in memory and detects a shutdown signal to power down the LAN device. Upon detecting the shutdown signal, the LAN device retrieves the IoT device status from an IoT device database in memory and sends the IoT device status to a display device. The set-top box retrieves a control command from a control profile based on received input to control the IoT device and transmits the retrieved IoT device control command to the IoT device via the wireless mesh network.

Abstract: Creating a filtered adaptive streaming playlist in a content delivery network. The playlist is for delivery of a plurality of chunks of stored video content to a streaming client device. The filtering is based on a determination of whether information associated with each chunk is in compliance with a personalized rule set associated with the streaming client device.

Abstract: Methods, systems and computer readable media described herein may facilitate the automatic identification of a need for additional authentication based on a received private message or PID, the urgency of a received private message, thus determining whether an immediate alert is output to a user, and/or a determination whether a protected message is to be archived for later retrieval via authentication. A device may be configured (e.g., by user input) to control selective decoding and display of messages (e.g., private messages), registration and configuration of blacklists, and/or defining criteria for determining urgency of a received message. Device configurations may be dynamically changed or updated according to user preferences and user treatment of received messages.

Abstract: A system and method is provided that enables a viewer to view all the available content on a mosaic display, even when advertisements would otherwise prevent a viewer from doing so. Whenever a channel is displaying non-program content, the mosaic may instead display pre-recorded content for the current program on that channel prior to the ad-period.

The CPE device may be configured to dynamically unload software components from volatile memory to create space for an incoming software component. The CPE device may identify one or more software components to be removed from volatile memory based upon a calculated probability to unload value for the software components within volatile memory, wherein the probability to unload value for each of the software components is calculated based upon one or more criteria associated with each software component.

When a recording request is received, storage information associated with resources of one or more networks and one or more storage devices may be retrieved, and a network may be selected for recording and storing the requested media based upon an algorithm that considers the retrieved information. One or more specific storage devices located on the selected network may be selected for recording and storing the requested media. The selection of the one or more specific storage devices may be made based upon an algorithm that considers the available resources and capabilities of available storage devices.

Abstract: Systems and methods obtain, prior to streaming an over the top (OTT) multimedia asset, meta-data associated with the multimedia asset. The metadata includes a duration of the multimedia asset and a data rate at which the asset is provided. The systems and methods estimates, based on the meta-data, an amount of data usage resulting from use of the one data rate at which the multimedia asset is provided. The user is them prompted to indicate whether to stream the multimedia asset, and upon receipt of an indication to stream the multimedia asset, the multimedia asset is streamed.

Secondary streams of content may be generated at the central device or may be retrieved by the central device from a client device serviced by the central device.

Abstract: The device alert system includes a home gateway coupled to multiple customer premises equipment (CPE) devices. The home gateway monitors communications among the gateway and the CPE devices to detect errors and/or issues arising from use of the gateway or CPE devices. It also has access to textual information describing each of the CPE devices. The home gateway automatically generates a search query by converting the detected error and/or issue into a text string and combining it with the text information describing the CPE device for which the error and/or issue was detected. The home gateway then causes a search to be performed based on the search query and causes the results of the search to be parsed and compared to the query. The home gateway then presents the results of the search to the user to assist the user in resolving the error and/or issue.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for representing allocation of capacity of a storage unit within an audio/video (AV) recording device is described. In one example, a quantity of AV program data stored on the storage unit is determined. A storage schedule for new AV program data that is defined over a predetermined time period is obtained. A deletion schedule for old AV program data that is defined over the predetermined time period is obtained. Temporally dynamic indicia is produced that is representative of allocation of the capacity of the storage unit over the predetermined time period in response to the quantity of stored AV program data, the storage schedule, and the deletion schedule. A pictorial representation of the temporally dynamic indicia may then be displayed on a display coupled to the AV recording device.
