  • Publication number: 20160144737
Abstract: A charging system is provided for use with the battery pack of an electric vehicle, where both the charge level and the charging rate may be specified over a range of available levels and rates, respectively. A system controller coupled to the charging system determines the optimal charging level and the optimal charging rate, where optimization is based on maximizing battery lifetime while insuring that there is sufficient power for the vehicle to travel the user's intended distance and that the charging process will be completed prior to the user's intended departure time.

  • Patent number: 9142977
Abstract: A battery is rendered to a consistent discharged state in a two-phase battery discharge operation. In a first of the two discharge phases, a constant discharge current is drawn from the battery until a threshold battery voltage is reached. In the second of the two discharge phases, executed after the threshold battery voltage is reached during the first-phase, a time-varying discharge current is drawn from the battery at a constant battery voltage until a threshold discharge current is reached.

  • Publication number: 20150110904
Abstract: The present invention relates to a topical composition and method of use, specifically an oil-in-water emulsion, comprised of sweet almond oil, lavender oil, rose oil, cinnamon bark oil, and coriander seed oil in a physiologically acceptable topical carrier. The composition is applied to a circumcised penis to enhance sensitivity, preferably twice daily for a time period of at least about two weeks. Thereafter a maintenance dose can be applied once a day to maintain a desired level of sensitivity.

  • Publication number: 20140145684
Abstract: A rechargeable battery pack is discontinuously charged in multiple discrete charging intervals. Reductions in battery pack voltage that occur during non-charging intervals, each transpiring between a respective pair of the discrete charging intervals, are measured. Multiple resistance values that characterize the internal resistance (DC resistance) of the battery pack are generated based on the reductions in battery pack voltage that occur during the non-charging intervals.

  • Patent number: 8521887
Abstract: Combining network connection maintenance operations that use a resource to extend battery life. Each of the network connections has a timer and a defined tolerance for early connection maintenance. After receiving notification of an event, the network connections are accessed to identify the connections for which a maintenance operation may be performed early based on the timer and the tolerance. In an embodiment, the maintenance operation includes sending a transmission control protocol (TCP) keep-alive packet on the connection.

  • Patent number: 8230436
Abstract: Coalescing schedules that use a resource to extend battery life. Each of the schedules is defined to execute at a recurrent activation time within a defined tolerance. After receiving notification of an event, the schedules are accessed to identify the schedules that may be executed early based on their activation time and tolerance. The identified schedules are aggregated for execution.

  • Patent number: 8166145
Abstract: Managing recurrent schedules based on events and conditions. Schedules from a plurality of applications are identified based on an activation time for the schedules and a determination of whether or not conditions defined for the schedules are met. The identified schedules are activated by performing actions associated with each of the identified schedules. In an embodiment, the schedules are grouped based on functionality and prioritized to avoid conflicts within each group.

  • Publication number: 20120028615
Abstract: The present application allows two-way communication between a remote client and a mobile device, such as a mobile phone. User's can be informed of phone events in real time, regardless of their proximity to the mobile device. A two-way communication link allows a remote client to communicate back to the mobile device to leverage the capabilities of the mobile device. For example, a mobile device can be controlled remotely to send a text message. In this way, third parties receive a text message from the mobile device itself, even though it is not in the user's possession.

  • Patent number: 7966410
Abstract: Coordinating delivery of data to a first computing device from a plurality of second computing devices based on known power times for a resource associated with the first computing device. One of the second computing devices requests a time interval for data delivery. The first computing device compares the requested time interval to the known power times to determine a delivery time. For example, the requested time interval is compared against activation times for recurrent schedules that use the resource, and against previously determined delivery times. The second computing device delivers data at the determined delivery time to preserve the resource. In some embodiments, the delivery time is adjusted for processing delays and network latency.
