  • Publication number: 20110143440
Abstract: Methods for causing mutations in genes expressed in eukaryotic cells are provided. The methods involve expressing an activation-induced cytidine deaminase (AID) in the cells. The mutated genes can be any gene that is operably linked to a promoter, where the gene is within about 2 kilobases of the promoter. Examples include antibody genes. Also provided are cells expressing AID. The cells can be from any eukaryote, and include hybridoma cells and myeloma fusion partners.

  • Patent number: 7936646
Abstract: Spherical aberration correction is provided for CD writing in a double (CD+DVD), triple (CD+DVD+BD) or quadruple (CD+DVD+BD+HD-DVD) writer, which use the same light path for CD and DVD. In an optical drive that uses numerous laser wavelengths combined into one light path each wavelength having a different numerical apertures a correction for spherical aberration is made to correct for effective numerical apertures of the light path that becomes shifted up from the original value to higher values. The correction in spherical aberration removes that effect of the higher effective NA and defects, particularly in writing, are corrected.

  • Patent number: 7859967
Abstract: The invention relates to an optical disk drive. The optical disk drive has an objective lens to be driven by a focus actuator with a focus offset for focusing an incident beam onto an optical disk into a spot with a spherical aberration, and a processor to derive a first and a second characteristic from a sensor output signal and obtain a spherical aberration correction value (SA) from a pre-determined function, the pre-determined function defining a spherical aberration correction value in dependence on a focus offset difference value (?FO). The focus offset difference value (?FO) is determined from a difference between a second optimal focus offset at which the second characteristic is optimal and a first optimal focus offset at which the first characteristic is optimal. The spherical aberration correction value (SA) can be used to achieve a correction to the spherical aberration of the spot.

  • Patent number: 6311848
Abstract: A device for tiltable ejectors of fruit in conveyor carts integrated into electronic classifiers has a lifting-ejector formed by a bent and supported vertical shaft which turns freely by its upper end section and is operationally connected to the tiltable ejector. Its lower end section is parallel to the supported upper part and serves to pass along an axis of advance, first in relation to a fixed rectilinear deflector, followed within an angularly displaceable deflector under electronic control and finally above an actuating ramp. The angularly displaceable deflector has a position of rest in which, together with the fixed deflector, it determines the trajectory of non-actuation of the lifting-ejector. Another position directs it toward a ramp and determines its trajectory of actuation to secure tilting of the ejector and the fruit carried thereby.
