  • Publication number: 20210015093
Abstract: A liquid spray system having antimicrobial and non-clumping properties that may be achieved without having more than 100% of the electron cation exchange. The agent may be chosen from a large number of antimicrobial agents, wherein citric acid is the most desirable. When the spray is applied to a surface, the surface does not exhibit a formation of clumps or coagulations, etc. This non-clumping property may be achieved three different ways. First, the agent may be dissolved in a specially denatured alcohol. Second, the agent may be dissolved in water or an SDA and then forced into a fine mist by way of a high pressure gas. Third, the agent may be dissolved into a water in oil emulsion. With any of these formulations, the alcoholic carrier/solvent evaporates after spraying leaving the bactericidal and virucidal agent behind to kill microbes found on the sprayed surface.

  • Publication number: 20200352746
Abstract: A silicone prosthetic liner for use with a prosthetic assembly that acts as the interface between the residual limb of an amputee and the socket assembly. The prosthetic liner comprises an open proximal end, a closed distal end, and sidewalls comprising an inner layer of molded silicone. The silicone is molded over a mandrel that has been sandblasted using #36 grit at 100 psi so as to form microcraters and reduce the coefficient of static friction.

  • Publication number: 20200069443
Abstract: A prosthetic liner for use with a prosthetic socket that has a thermoplastic elastomeric (TPE) layer that is in contact with the amputee's residual limb. The TPE layer is not uniform in thickness but has ridges to extend circumferentially around the TPE layer. A fabric exterior layer covers the outer surface of the TPE layer conforming to the ridges and is used as a substrate to form a mechanical bond to an elastomeric material. Impregnating the elastomeric material within the fabric exterior occurs by applying an uncured material to the fabric exterior layer and onto at least the apex surfaces located within the sealing regions thereby creating an air tight boundary layer when inserted into a socket. When a vacuum is applied the air is evacuated from the volume below the seal layer.

  • Publication number: 20190254937
Abstract: A self-adhering material for use with cosmetic or therapeutic agents. The self-adhering material uses a triblock copolymer in combination with a plasticizing oil having a viscosity between 30-300 centistokes to maintain shape and structure on a user's skin without leaving residue. The self-adhering material may have a fabric backing and may also be embedded with light reflecting materials.

  • Publication number: 20190231563
Abstract: An interchangeable lock-pump prosthetic system that includes a universal dummy, vacuum pump, and mechanical lock. Each of the three objects have similar geometries for the purpose of fitting into a prosthetic, whereupon a user may for instance, swap the vacuum pump with the lock, depending on the needs of the user and without changing to a separate prosthetic. The universal dummy is an inactive component and acts as a placeholder during manufacturing of the socket, for the eventual inclusion of the vacuum pump or mechanical lock. The vacuum pump is a pressure dependent object that acts to remove any residual air between the socket and the elastomeric liner. The lock takes advantage of a mechanical locking pin which receives a properly configured liner, thus securing the user within the prosthetic socket.

  • Publication number: 20190231598
Abstract: A garment using a phase change material that change phase from solid to liquid at a low or high temperatures situated within a gel matrix. The phase change material may be used after surgical procedures to reduce swelling, edema and bruising. The gel matrix allows the material of the present invention to maintain a conformable and elastic form at room temperature. This invention provides the novelty of a low or high temperature phase change material that is conformable to surfaces or volumes of varying geometry.

  • Publication number: 20190223578
Abstract: A cosmetic or therapeutic mask retainer which is thermoformable so as to allow the facemask to remain in position on a user's face when in use. Specifically, the present invention relates to a multi-layered retainer for therapeutic or cosmetic purposes comprising a gelatinous elastomer layer, optional internal fabric layer, a thermoformable plastic layer, and a fabric strap layer. The thermoformable plastic is preferably a plastic that can be heated to temperatures that allow it to be molded but also so that human skin can withstand the heat, such as EVA or PCL. The facemask can be one, two, three, or four components when in use and may be formed by creating a variety of composites between the various layers.

  • Publication number: 20190070024
Abstract: A prosthetic liner for use with a prosthetic assembly that acts as the interface between the residual limb of an amputee and the socket assembly. The prosthetic liner comprises an outer textile with variable stretch characteristics due to the knit construction and stitching and an interior gel layer. The distal region of the liner textile has less stretch than does the intermediate region or proximal region and is stitched together to form a unitary liner. The liner advantageously minimizes a condition referred to as “pistoning” wherein the distal most portion of the residual limb ascends and descends in the lower portion of the socket creating an unhealthy condition for the residual limb.

  • Patent number: 9937065
Abstract: A liner interface and method of making the liner interface comprising attaching non-compressible deformable electrically conductive receptors to an inner surface of a fabric layer, placing the fabric layer into a female part of a molding machine, axially deforming the deformable receptors from their initial thickness with a male part of the molding machine, injecting a molten gel elastomer into the molding machine to completely surround and adhere to the receptors and inner surface of the tubular fabric layer, allowing the molten gel to cure, and removing the male part from the molding machine and allowing the axially deformed receptors to axially expand beyond the inner surface of the cured liner interface.

  • Publication number: 20180021169
Abstract: A soft thermoformable elastomer with a phase change material exhibiting high latent heat of fusion. The compound provides elasticity, softness, formability, and heat over an extended duration and to facilitate prolonged skin contact at elevated temperatures. Used in combination with active ingredients the increased temperature and formability provides enhanced transdermal delivery through the skin. Thermoplastic elastomers may be manufactured by mixing together plasticizing oil, a triblock copolymer, a paraffinic substance and one or more additives, e.g., an antioxidant, an antimicrobial agent, and/or other additives to form a mixture which melted then cooled into the thermoplastic elastomer.

  • Publication number: 20170354367
Abstract: The following invention is a device for measuring the force applied by the residual limb of an amputee to the distal region of a socket. The device has an upper surface with a “force sensor measuring region” that maintains a central location on the upper surface of the DFMD. The DFMD is affixed to the inside surface of the distal most area of the socket and maintains a permanent location of the “force sensor measuring region” of the device. Regardless of physical characteristics or changes to the socket, liner, socks, proper or improper placement of the limb into the socket, the consistent location of the “force sensor measuring region” on the DFMD provides congruent force data as it relates to the force applied by the socket to the distal area of the residual limb. The data collected by the DFMD is processed and modified by a software algorithm into meaningful data for the user and/or medical professional.
