  • Patent number: 8112516
Abstract: An example embodiment of the present invention provides a process that uses IP flow information to selectively notify users of an application server of the server's unavailability. In the example embodiment, the process, which might run on a system comprising a router, monitors IP flow records as to dropped packets and learns that an application server has become unavailable. The process then uses the IP flow records to identify active users of the application server, for example, by passing a source IP address to a presence service. Once the process has identified an active user, the process determines a means of notification for the user, which might be through the presence service, and transmits a notification to the user as to the unavailability of the application server. In the example embodiment, the process transmits a later notification as to the availability of the application server, using reverse camp-on functionality.

  • Patent number: 7884017
Abstract: Methods for cleaning semiconductor wafers following chemical mechanical polishing are provided. An exemplary method exposes a wafer to a thermal treatment in an oxidizing environment followed by a thermal treatment in a reducing environment. The thermal treatment in the oxidizing environment both removes residues and oxidizes exposed copper surfaces to form a cupric oxide layer. The thermal treatment in the reducing environment then reduces the cupric oxide to elemental copper. This leaves the exposed copper clean and in condition for further processing, such as electroless plating.

  • Patent number: 7810378
Abstract: A method of detecting leakage in a force main involves placing at least two spaced sensors on the force main. Liquid is pumped through the pipe by means of a pump. The pump is shut down for an interval of time, and during the period following pump shutdown while negative pressure is present in the pipe, signals are generated at the sensors due to noise or vibration resulting from fluid being drawn into the pipe. The position of a leak in the pipe is determined by correlating the leak noise signals generated while the pipe is under negative pressure. Alternatively, the invention can be applied to a pressurized pipe, in which case conditions of negative pressure can be deliberatively created for a period to draw in fluid from the outside.

  • Patent number: 7483889
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method for persistent data authorization includes receiving a query at a management device and identifying authorization constraints at the management device utilizing an authorization model. The authorization model includes at least one group hierarchy defining authorization based on a relationship between levels in the hierarchy. The query is modified based on the authorization constraints and the modified query is sent to the database. Data is received in response to the modified query and is configured for transmission from the management device without further filtering. The query received at the management device and the modified query are both configured for communication directly with the database with no modification to the database required for the modified query. A system and apparatus for persistent data authorization are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7475596
Abstract: To perform a non-destructive condition assessment of a pipe carrying a fluid, an actual value representative of the propagation velocity of an acoustic disturbance propagating between two longitudinally separated points on the pipe is determined. A corresponding predicted value for the propagation velocity is computed as a function of at least one wall thickness parameter of the pipe by using a theoretical model for the propagation of acoustic waves in the pipe that assumes said pipe has a finite wall thickness with a predetermined circumferential thickness profile. The wall thickness parameter is then computed by matching the actual value with the predicted value, for example, by substituting the actual value in a formula predicting the theoretical value.

  • Publication number: 20070195128
Abstract: A steady flow, high voltage inkjet print head for an ink cartridge, wherein an inkjet print head chip includes a plurality of heating elements, and a top edge of the heating element (that is, resistance heating element) is structural designed as an arc-shaped resistance heating element. Because geometric center (that is, heat source center) of the material of the inkjet print head chip and a bubble forming center are in a straight line, thus, deviation between the bubble center point and expected emission direction is prevented, which would otherwise result in problems in Ink spot quality, thereby providing enormous benefit to high resolution of an Inkjet printer.

  • Publication number: 20070139489
Abstract: An ink refilling device of an ink cartridge for an inkjet printer is composed of at least one injection tube and at least one ink refiller, wherein a tube connector at one end of the injection tube can be inserted into an injection hole of an ordinary ink cartridge, and a tube connector at the other end of the injection tube can be connected to a needle tube which can be fixed at an ink outlet of a cap of the ink refiller. A siphon tube is connected at a bottom end of the ink outlet, and an air hole is located on the cap for connecting with ambient atmosphere. When refilling the ink, the ink inside the ink refiner can be filled into the ink cartridge through the injection tube and can be continuously supplied to a printer by a siphonage effect until it is used up, without having to switch off the printer and taking out the ink cartridge.

  • Publication number: 20070127366
Abstract: Virtual channels are used to improve quality of service through a large port count switch. Data frames are sent from one small switch to another small switch within the large port count switch on virtual channels. The use of virtual channels helps prevent congestion caused by a first external source device sending data to a first external destination device from affecting a second external source device sending data to a second external destination device.

  • Publication number: 20070070157
Abstract: The present invention relates to an inkjet printer ink cartridge, which configures a sponge-free ink-filling device into a combined structure of a case and an ink outlet base body, which is then attached onto a printed circuit by PECVD. A stand having a recess on the ink outlet base body thereon can be used to dispose a socket. A nozzle plate connected to a heater chip can be inserted to the socket therein. The heater chip is electrically connected to a heating element in airflow guides formed on a surface of the socket thereto. A vertical wire attached to the socket is electrically connected to the vertical wire bent on the printed circuit at an edge of the stand. Therefore, when the heater chip has been used for some time and is required to be replaced, only the nozzle plate and the heater chip are independently replaced, whereas the case and the ink outlet base body can both be repeatedly used.
