Publication number: 20190365204Abstract: A control unit that includes a braking system for fixing the position of an endoscope tip is provided. The control system includes an up-down control knob and a right-left control knob. The brakes are engaged by rotating the control knob itself counter-clockwise from a free wheeling position. After the brakes have been engaged, a sufficient amount of force applied to the control knobs will move the endoscope tip slightly in the corresponding direction, allowing for fine tuning of tip position after braking.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 16, 2019Publication date: December 5, 2019Applicant: Endochoice, Inc.Inventors: Alexander Lang, Stephan Wieth

Patent number: 10380143Abstract: Aspects include operating a distributed database that includes multiple computing nodes that are connected via a network for exchanging data, and a database management system for managing a source dataset and a target dataset. The target dataset is stored in a distributed fashion across the multiple computing nodes. The method includes repeatedly, using the multiple computing nodes, checking for a matching condition between a source element selected from a source dataset and one of multiple target elements in the target dataset. The multiple computing nodes are used to calculate a command set of a merged command list of commands to merge the source element with the target element using the matching condition. The command set is executed to merge the source element with the target dataset before checking for the matching condition between a next source element selected from the multiple source element and one of the multiple target elements.Type: GrantFiled: September 20, 2016Date of Patent: August 13, 2019Assignee: INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATIONInventors: Andreas Brodt, Alexander Lang, Oliver Schiller, Knut Stolze

Publication number: 20180228349Abstract: A suction control unit placed on an endoscope to control application of suction through at least one of two working channels of the endoscope. The suction unit has first and second valves with first and second valve openings, at a proximal end, that lead through to a distal end, which is adapted to be placed on the first and second ports of the two working channels. The suction unit has a channel extending between the first and second valves, an opening extending from a front wall to a rear wall of the housing and through the channel, and a switcher having a handle and a shaft with a through hole. When the shaft is placed within the opening and in a first position, suction is applied to both the working channels. When the shaft is placed within the opening and in a second position, suction is applied to only one of the two working channels.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 11, 2018Publication date: August 16, 2018Applicant: EndoChoice, Inc.Inventors: Golan Salman, Amram Aizenfeld, Stephan Wieth, Alexander Lang, Tracy Knapp, Justin Wolfe

Publication number: 20180150502Abstract: A mechanism is provided for updating attribute value information for a data table. The data table involves a set of attributes. The data table has multiple records associated with multiple data blocks. Attribute value information is associated with each data block of the multiple data blocks. The attribute value information is descriptive of at least one attribute of the set of attributes. A first data block may be marked as modified in response to a delete process for deleting from a first data block of the multiple data blocks a record having at least one attribute value that is used for generating the attribute value information of the first data block. In response to scanning the marked first data block, the attribute value information associated with the first data block may be updated based on the scan results.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 26, 2018Publication date: May 31, 2018Inventors: Thomas F. Boehme, Andreas Brodt, Alexander Lang, Oliver Schiller

Publication number: 20150313450Abstract: The present specification discloses an endoscope with a plurality of steering cables for maneuvering the bending section, some of which are positioned on the internal walls of the bending section using cable guides. Cable stoppers placed in the last vertebra (proximal articulated segment) of the bending section are used to secure the cable close to the distal tip at one end, and to the knobs located in the endoscope handle at the other end. In one embodiment, one of the cable stoppers is located such that it is flanged to the proximal end of the distal tip. This design leaves more free space in the internal diameter of the last vertebra and does not cause obstruction or interference in the proper functioning of other components, such as the front working channel, during the movement of the four steering cables for maneuvering the bending section.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 2, 2015Publication date: November 5, 2015Inventors: Stephan Wieth, Alexander Lang, Golan Salman, Amram Aizenfeld
