Abstract: Systems and methods for automatically performing one or more physiological measurements. In various embodiments, image and audio data of a setting in which a patient is present may be acquired via one or more recording devices (102). A determination may be made based on the acquired image and audio data of a state of activity associated with the patient. Based on the determined state of activity associated with the patient, a corresponding one or more physiological measurements of the patient to be obtained may be identified. One or more health sensors (122) may then be caused to be operated to obtain the corresponding one or more physiological measurements.

  • Publication number: 20190090866
Abstract: An illustrative example surgical method includes establishing a tunnel in a bone. At least a portion of the suture is passed through the tunnel. The suture has two ends and first and second loops between the two ends. The first loop includes a button on the suture. The second loop is on one side of the tunnel and the button is on the other side of the tunnel after the portion of the suture has been passed through the tunnel. At least some of the second loop of the suture is passed through soft tissue. Manipulating the second loop over the button positions a portion of the soft tissue between the second loop of the suture and the bone. Adjusting a length of the second loop urges the portion of the soft tissue against the bone where the portion of the soft tissue is held by the suture without tying any knots in the suture.

  • Publication number: 20190094543
Abstract: Systems, devices, and methods for optical waveguides that are well-suited for use in wearable heads-up displays (WHUDs) are described. An optical device comprises an optical waveguide including a volume of optically transparent material having a first longitudinal surface positioned opposite a second longitudinal surface across a width of the volume, a liquid crystal in-coupler, a controller to modulate a refractive index of the liquid crystal in-coupler, and an out-coupler. Light is in-coupled into the waveguide on a path that is dependent on the modulated refractive index of the liquid crystal in-coupler and is propagated along a length of the waveguide by total internal reflection between the longitudinal surfaces before being out-coupled by the out-coupler. In this way, light signals can be steered to create an image and/or to move an exit pupil of an image. WHUDs that employ such optical waveguides are also described.

  • Publication number: 20190095510
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for implementing a low-latency data stream monitoring system. The data stream monitoring system may obtain raw data from a data source as soon after the data is generated, and may classify the data according to different topics. The topics may be published in a publish-subscribe messaging model, and data enrichment systems may subscribe to the topics to receive data for enrichment. The data enrichment systems may supplement or replace the raw data with additional information, and may further classify or reclassify the enriched data into different topics. The enriched data may then be published to an alert generation system, which may apply various criteria to the enriched data to determine that alerts should be generated, generate the alerts, and publish or transmit the alerts to client devices. Individual data streams, topics, enrichments, criteria, and alarms may be added, removed, or modified as required.
