  • Publication number: 20110211089
Abstract: An improved mobile electronic device and camera provide an improved auto white balance system where constraints can be imposed the correlated color temperature (CCT) that is employed by the auto white balance system. For instance, if a distance between a subject and the camera is determined to exceed a threshold for closeness, the CCT can be constrained so that it is above a preset CCT that corresponds with sunrise or sunset. Other distance thresholds and the content of an image, as well as the brightness of the image, can be further employed in determining the CCT to employ.

  • Publication number: 20110102451
Abstract: A method is set forth for automatically adjusting display brightness on a mobile electronic device having a light sensor, display screen and orientation sensor, for legibility under varying lighting conditions and orientations of the device. The method includes obtaining light level samples from the light sensor, and orientation from the orientation sensor, and adjusting backlight intensity of the display responsive to the light level samples and orientation of the device. Preferably, backlight adjustments are made from dim to bright notwithstanding orientation of the device whereas adjustments from bright to dim are made only for orientations of the device where the light sensor is unlikely to be covered.

  • Publication number: 20100328229
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for providing tactile feedback to a touch-sensitive display comprising detecting a touch on the touch-sensitive display and providing tactile feedback by one or more actuators in response to the touch, wherein tactile feedback is substantially the same regardless of a location of the touch. Tactile feedback may optionally be based on the location of the touch relative to the location of the actuators and may also optionally be based on the force of the touch.

  • Publication number: 20100171711
Abstract: A method of controlling a portable electronic device having a touch-sensitive display includes detecting a first touch on the touch-sensitive display, detecting a second touch on the touch-sensitive display while the first touch is maintained, selecting one of the first and second touches as a selected touch based on start or end times of the first and second touches, and determining which one of a plurality of features is associated with a location of the selected touch.

  • Publication number: 20100106043
Abstract: A method of fitting a proposed model for electro encephalography spectra to data derived from EEG recordings, the method comprising the steps of: (a) inputting at least one spectral trace of electroencephalographic measurements; (b) inputting a series of parameters associated with the proposed model; (c) applying a non-linear fitting algorithm to the at least one spectral trace and the at least one series of parameters, wherein the non-linear fitting model preferably can include a series of constraints associated with predetermined ones of the series of parameters so as to constrain the parameters in a predetermined range.

  • Publication number: 20080273014
Abstract: These needs, and others, are met by at least one embodiment of the disclosed invention which provides for a touch sensitive screen for an electronic device wherein there is a sparse pattern of sensors disposed within the active area and a dense pattern of sensors disposed within the viewing area. In this configuration, the pixels in the active area may have a larger aspect ratio and provide a more pleasing image while the dense sensors disposed within the viewing area provide more accurate touch sensitivity. Further, the software, or other electronics, used to create the image, may be structured to position menus or other selectable images adjacent to the viewing area. Similarly, certain images, such as icons, can be programmed to be displayed directly under the sensors in the active area. Generally, this configuration provides for the best of both worlds; a bright, clear image with some touch sensitivity in the active area and a sensitive sensor grid in the viewing area where there are no pixels.

  • Publication number: 20070017841
Abstract: A reusable dense packaging system used to transport large size display substrates, is provided made up of three main components; a pallet frame, a cover, and restraining means. The restraining means securely hold the glass sheets within the cover and on the pallet frame. Restraining means includes one or more retaining bars moving towards and away from the front of the glass sheets and a mechanical system. The mechanical system may include the use of a pressing panel, a belt apparatus, a scissor-like mechanism, positioning devices, or a retaining bar pulling system, each capable of moving towards and away from the front of the glass sheets. Each embodiment allows for packaging from 1 to N glass sheets with flexibility and stability and with manual or automatic operation.

  • Publication number: 20060156606
Abstract: A multi-caliber ambidextrously controlled firearm that includes an adjustable ejection system to facilitate the ejection of spent cartridge casings from a firearm. The adjustable ejection system includes an ejection port defined by an aperture in the firearm and a deflector. The deflector is attached to the firearm to adjust the size of the ejection port and may be attached at one of at least two attachment positions of the firearm. The adjustable ejector system includes an ejector selectively attached to the firearm at one of at least two ejector attachment positions. The improved firearm also includes an ambidextrous magazine catch system for selectively retaining a magazine within a firearm. The magazine catch system includes a first button opposite a second button such that either button may be actuated by a user to release the magazine retained with the firearm.
