  • Publication number: 20210314899
Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, methods, and computer-readable media are provided for indicating local area data network (LADN) data network names (DNNs). In embodiments, a user equipment (UE) provides a list of configured LADN DNNs in a registration request message during a registration procedure. An Access and Mobility Management Function (AMF) determines LADN information for the UE by looking into configured LADN DNNs in the AMF and/or retrieved LADN authorization/subscription information. The LADN information includes a list of LADN DNNs and corresponding LADN service area(s) that the UE can use, including LADN DNNs that the UE can use in a current registration area. The AMF sends the LADN information to the UE in a registration accept message. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.

  • Publication number: 20210306912
Abstract: Systems and methods provide for controlling the derivation of QoS rules in the UE by flexibly defining the scope of packet header fields over which packet filter derivation is performed. The scope of packet header fields for derivation of QoS rules may be provided by the network to the UE upon PDU Session establishment or modification. For PDU Session of IP type, the network indicates to the UE whether the scope of RQoS includes both the Source/Destination IP address pair and the Source/Destination Port numbers, or only the former. For PDU Session of Ethernet type, the network indicates to the UE whether the scope of RQoS includes both the Source/Destination MAC address pair and the IEEE 802.1Q tag, or only the former. The UE may indicate to the network whether it supports the flexible scope of packet filters for RQoS for a PDU session.

  • Patent number: 11129072
Abstract: Router advertisements may be used to configure multi-homed Protocol Data Unit (PDU) sessions. A first router advertisement message from a first PDU session anchor and a second router advertisement message from a second PDU session anchor may be decoded. A user equipment (UE) may identify, based on the first and second router advertisement messages, a first preference value associated with destination routes of the first network and a second preference value associated with destination routes of the second data network. The UE may determine a destination data network for a signal by comparing a destination route of the signal to destination routes associated with whichever data network has a greater preference value. The UE may prepare the signal with a prefix based on the destination data network.

  • Publication number: 20210258882
Abstract: A network device (e.g., a user equipment (UE), a new radio NB (gNB), or other network component) can process or generate a one-step paging reception or a two-step paging reception based on being in a sub-state of an idle mode. A UE can enter into an idle state to enable a decreased power consumption of battery, and further reduce power consumption by only monitoring a PDCCH in response to operating in a camped on any cell state, and eliminate processing a paging message when in the camped on any cell state.

  • Publication number: 20210226914
Abstract: An apparatus used in a UE includes processing circuitry and memory. To configure the UE for a DNS resolution, the processing circuitry is to encode UL data for transmission to a first EAS via a first data path. The first data path includes a first UL CL UPF and a first PSA. A NAS SM message received from an SMF node is decoded. The NAS SM message includes an EAS rediscovery indication and a list of FQDNs associated with the first EAS. A DNS resolution procedure with a DNS server is performed in response to the EAS rediscovery indication, to obtain an IP address of a second EAS. The DNS resolution procedure is based on the list of FQDNs, and a second data path to the second EAS is established based on the IP address.

  • Publication number: 20210219226
Abstract: In one embodiment, an apparatus of a User Equipment (UE) device includes memory storing non-public network (NPN) configuration information, a radio frequency (RF) interface, and processing circuitry coupled to the memory and the RF interface. The RF interface receives information broadcast by a radio access network (RAN) node of the particular NPN, where the information includes a NPN indicator indicating that the RAN node supports a NPN and NPN service information indicating services supported by the particular NPN. The processing circuitry establishes, in response to detecting the NPN indicator in the information received from the RAN node, a connection to the particular NPN based on the NPN configuration information and the NPN service information received from the RAN node.

  • Patent number: 11032707
Abstract: Disclosed herein are user equipment (UE) configured to communicate with a vehicle-to-everything (V2X) control function (CF) and a V2X Key Management Function (KMF). The UE includes processing circuitry configured to select a broadcast service from a plurality of available broadcast services and encode a key request message for transmission to the V2X KMF. The key request message includes a service identification (ID) of the selected broadcast service and identification of V2X security techniques supported by the UE. A key response message received from the V2X KMF in response to the key request message is decoded. The key response message identifies a V2X security technique of the V2X security techniques. The identified V2X security technique is execute to obtain security credentials provisioned by the V2X KMF. Data is encoded for transmission to a second UE during the selected broadcast service, where the encoding is based on the provisioned security credentials.

  • Patent number: 11019538
Abstract: User equipment (UEs) can fallback to a legacy system, such as an evolved packet system (EPS), from a fifth generation system (5GS). For example, a UE camps on the 5GS network by default. When an indicator of a voice call is detected, the UE performs a fallback to EPS for a duration of the voice call. After the voice call, the UE can return to the 5GS. In another example, the UE detects an emergency session request (e.g., internet protocol multimedia subsystem (IMS) emergency session request). The UE performs a fallback to EPS for a duration of the emergency session. After the emergency session is complete, the UE can return to the 5GS. The solution can operate with UEs that operate in either Single Registration (SR) mode embodiments or Dual Registration (DR) mode embodiments. Depending on the embodiment, the UE can perform a handover or redirection to the legacy system (such as E-UTRAN).

  • Patent number: 10972235
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for offloading traffic flows without service disruption are disclosed herein. User equipment (UE) is configured to receive an indication that a current packet data network (PDN) connection can be optimized. The current PDN connection is established over a first PDN gateway (PGW). The UE requests connection over a new PDN connection to a same type of service as the current PDN connection without releasing the connection over the first PGW. The UE routes new traffic flows over a second PGW corresponding to the new PDN connection and routes old traffic flows over the first PGW.

  • Publication number: 20210092668
Abstract: A user equipment (UE) can include processing circuitry configured to decode system information including access barring parameters for one or more access categories for accessing a cell of a next generation Node-B (gNB). A network access attempt is detected by a control plane layer of the UE that is higher than a Radio Resource Control (RRC) layer. The processing circuitry map s, using a Non-Access Stratum (NAS) layer of the control plane, the network access attempt to at least one access category of a plurality of available access categories based on mapping rules. The processing circuitry performs an access barring check procedure for the mapped at least one access category based on the access barring parameters. Upon determining that access to the cell is not barred, a NAS message is encoded for transmission to an Access and Mobility Management Function (AMF), e.g. an Attach Request message to perform an attach procedure.

  • Publication number: 20210068200
Abstract: Embodiments of a User Equipment (UE), an Evolved Node-B (eNB) and methods for communication are generally described herein. An UE may be configurable to operate as an eRelay UE. The eRelay UE may be configured to operate as a relay between an eNB and an eRemote UE. The eRelay UE may receive, from the eRemote UE, a message that includes an identifier of the eRemote UE for paging of the eRemote UE. The eRelay UE may determine whether a first paging message from the eNB includes the identifier of the eRemote UE. If it is determined that the first paging message includes the identifier of the eRemote UE, the eRelay UE may transmit, to the eRemote UE, a second paging message to page the eRemote UE. The second paging message includes the identifier of the eRemote UE.
