  • Publication number: 20210036809
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer-readable media, for implementing a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) protocol in a wireless local area network (WLAN). A first WLAN device may transmit a first HARQ frame to a second WLAN device. The first HARQ frame may include initial transmissions of a first plurality of forward error correction (FEC) codewords. The HARQ protocol may support new techniques for feedback, such as a feedback capability in which a bitmap may be used to indicate decoding failures of codewords. The first feedback message may include indicators to change a HARQ configuration parameter based on channel conditions. In some implementations, the second HARQ frame may combine retransmissions regarding the failed codewords with initial transmissions of a second plurality of codewords.

  • Patent number: 10911349
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatuses for dynamically changing a primary communication link on which wireless devices contend for access to a shared wireless medium. An access point (AP) may monitor the channel conditions on a primary link and one or more secondary links of a multi-link environment, and may signal a change in the primary link (such as to one of the secondary links) when one or more conditions are satisfied. The primary and secondary links may be assigned on a per-client basis. Thus, the primary or secondary links of a particular STA may be different than those of other STAs associated with the same AP. In some aspects, each STA may monitor the channel conditions on its own primary and secondary links, and may signal a change in its primary link (such as to one of its secondary links) when one or more conditions are met.

  • Publication number: 20210007006
Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems of wireless communication in accordance with hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) techniques. Some implementations more specifically relate to aligning aggregate medium access control (MAC) protocol data unit (A-MPDU) subframes with codeword boundaries in a physical-layer service data unit (PSDU). The alignment may be performed by selectively adding padding bits to the PSDU based on the size of each A-MPDU subframe and the lengths of the codewords. In some aspects, an A-MPDU subframe may be aligned with a first codeword of the PSDU so that the first A-MPDU subframe is encoded exclusively within the first codeword. In some other aspects, an A-MPDU subframe may be aligned with two or more contiguous codewords of the PSDU so that the two or more contiguous codewords include the A-MPDU subframe and no portions of any other A-MPDU subframe.

  • Publication number: 20200389919
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatuses for coordinating access to a shared wireless medium among multiple master devices operating on the same frequency band. In some implementations, master devices may contend for access to the shared medium during a medium reservation window (MRW). During the MRW, master devices may advertise their intent to reserve at least a portion of the shared medium for one or more timeslots within a subsequent medium utilization period. The reservation messages may be broadcast to other master devices in the vicinity to prevent other master devices from accessing the wireless medium during a reserved timeslot. In some implementations, the owner of a timeslot may share at least a portion of its timeslot with other master devices. For example, the timeslot owner may enable other master devices to utilize an unused portion of the wireless medium, such as unused channels, spatial streams, or time.

  • Patent number: 10863539
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for improving transmission opportunity (TxOP) truncation in wireless communication. In some implementations, a transmit opportunity (TxOP) period truncation or whether to update a network allocation vector (NAV) timing based on a message that includes transmitter and receiver information (such as a transmitter address (TA) and a receiver address (RA)) may be determined. For example, a station may receive a contention-free end (CF-End) frame and determine a TxOP period truncation based on comparing a TA and an RA included in the CF-End frame with a TA and an RA included in an earlier received message (e.g., an RTS). Such information may be compared to other TAs or RAs associated with NAV timing values and the NAV timing may be set, reset, updated, or canceled based on the comparison.
