  • Publication number: 20160177187
Abstract: The present disclosures and inventions relate to a method that includes the steps of: a) introducing a natural gas; b) reforming the natural gas; wherein the reforming step comprises contacting the natural gas with steam to produce a syngas; c) converting the syngas to a product mixture comprising an olefin; wherein the converting step comprises contacting the syngas with a Co/Mn catalyst; wherein waste water is produced prior to step d); and d) recovering the waste water; wherein some or all of the recovered waste water is added to the natural gas prior to being introduced.

  • Publication number: 20160096798
Abstract: Disclosed is a method of reducing the ultraviolet-light absorbing properties of a composition comprising dioctyl phthalate, the method comprising (a) obtaining a composition comprising dioctyl phthalate and phthalide, wherein said composition has an absorbance of greater than 0.1 at a wavelength of about from 230 to 360 nm, (b) contacting the composition with activated carbon, silica gel, or diatomaceous earth, for a sufficient amount of time to allow the phthalide to contact the activated carbon, silica gel, or diatomaceous earth, and (c) removing the composition from the activated carbon, silica gel, or diatomaceous earth, wherein the composition obtained from step (c) has an absorbance equal to or less than about 0.1 at a wavelength of about from 230 to 360 nm and has a reduced amount of phthalide when compared with the composition from step (a).

  • Publication number: 20150203372
Abstract: The invention provides a method for the treatment of alkaline wastewater comprising sodium ions and organic impurities, the method comprising the steps of a) contacting part of the wastewater with a cation exchange resin to obtain an acidic wastewater portion, b) mixing the acidic wastewater portion and the remaining wastewater portion in the presence of a neutralizing solution to obtain an effluent having a pH of 5 to 9, preferably 6 to 8, more preferably 6.5 to 7.5, more preferably 6.8 to 7.2 and c) reducing the amount of the organic impurities from the effluent.

  • Patent number: 9067847
Abstract: Disclosed herein are processes for producing a synthesis gas mixture and for producing an organic chemical product. The process can comprise: (i) steam reforming a feed gas stream comprising one or more hydrocarbons to produce a reformed synthesis gas mixture comprising H2, CO and CO2; (ii) cooling reformed synthesis gas mixture obtained in (i) and removing H2O from the reformed gas mixture; (iii) subjecting reformed synthesis gas mixture obtained in (ii) to a reverse water gas shift reaction so as to decrease the H2/CO molar ratio of the reformed synthesis gas mixture; and (iv) removing CO2 from synthesis gas mixture obtained in (iii). A first stream of CO2 is added to the gas mixture in step (i) and a second stream of CO2 is added to the gas mixture in step (iii), and wherein the first and/or second streams comprise recycled CO2 removed in step (iv).

  • Patent number: 8628940
Abstract: Methods, devices, and systems for performing intermittent detection during analytical reactions are provided. Such methods facilitate collection of reaction data from disparate reaction times. Further, such methods are useful for reducing photo-induced damage of one or more reactants in an illuminated analytical reaction at a given reaction time. In preferred embodiments, the reaction mixture is subjected to at least one illuminated and non-illuminated period and allowed to proceed such that the time in which the reaction mixture is illuminated is less than a photo-induced damage threshold period.
