The cell (11,14) is served by a network node (12,12?,15) and the user equipment (10) is capable of receiving signals on more than one downlink carrier simultaneously. The user equipment (10) creates autonomous gaps on a downlink carrier, which downlink carrier to use for creating autonomous gaps on is based on a received indication from the network node (12,12?,15) and/or a pre-determined rule. The indication or pre-determined rule specifies the downlink carrier. The user equipment (10) then acquires the system information of the cell (11,14) on the downlink carrier using the created autonomous gaps.

    Abstract: Methods and devices for adjusting timing of uplink transmissions to a network node in a telecommunications system are provided. A user equipment (“UE”) is configurable with more than one aggregated serving cells that are divided into one or more groups of serving cells based on a timing advance value. The one or more groups of serving cells each comprises a timing reference serving cell. The reception timing of a downlink transmission from a timing reference serving cell is used as an uplink timing reference for the timing reference serving cell. The UE determines a change to a second timing reference serving cell and applies an incremental adjustment of the transmit timing of uplink transmissions for the serving cells in the group of serving cells with respect to a timing reference based on the reception timing of a downlink transmission from the second timing reference serving cell in the UE.

    Abstract: A method in a user equipment for adjusting a transmit timing of uplink transmissions to a network node in a telecommunications system is provided. The user equipment is configurable with more than one aggregated serving cells. The reception timing of a downlink transmission from a timing reference serving cell is used as a timing reference for the transmit timing of uplink transmissions. The user equipment determines a change to a second serving cell as the new timing reference serving cell which is different from a first serving cell currently being used as the timing reference serving cell. The user equipment applies an incremental adjustment of the transmit timing of uplink transmissions for the serving cells in a group of serving cells with respect to a timing reference based on the reception timing of a downlink transmission from the second serving cell in the user equipment.

    Abstract: A user equipment (UE) in a cellular telecommunications system is able to detect the uplink/downlink configuration of a detected neighboring cell by receiving a signal from the neighboring cell. A characteristic of the received signal is detected and used as an indicator in a blind detection process to identify one or more downlink slots in the received signal. Known pilot signals in the identified one or more downlink slots can then be used to obtain a signal power measurement of the received signal. The blind detection process is also capable of detecting whether a slot of a neighboring cell's signal is a downlink unicast slot or a Multicast-Broadcast Single Frequency Network slot.

The UE determines a node in the ad-hoc network that is able to provide a reference signal comprising a pattern that can be used for synchronization purposes when the UE is in DRX mode in the ad-hoc network. The node is determined by requesting the node to indicate whether the node is able to provide the reference signal, and receiving an accept signal or message from the node. The UE then receives the reference signal from the determined node, enters DRX mode, and uses the received reference signal to maintain synchronization while in the DRX mode.

In at least one embodiment, static or less dynamic aspects of the muting configuration is signaled via higher-layer signaling, while lower-layer signaling is used to signal more dynamic aspects of the muting configuration.

    Abstract: A base station is configured to serve a wireless device in a serving cell on a serving frequency. The base station obtains information that indicates one or more non-serving frequencies on which the device is to perform one or more positioning measurements. These positioning measurements are to be used for determining the device's geographic position. For at least one non-serving frequency indicated by the information, the base station configures a measurement gap during which the device is to perform a corresponding positioning measurement. Specifically, the base station configures such measurement gap to occur during a period of time in which a neighboring cell transmits a positioning reference signal over that non-serving frequency. A positioning reference signal is specifically designed to be a signal on which a device performs positioning measurements. Thus, by aligning the measurement gap with a positioning reference signal, the positioning measurements will prove more reliable and accurate.
