  • Patent number: 9104413
Abstract: Various embodiments of methods and systems for hardware (“HW”) based dynamic memory management in a portable computing device (“PCD”) are disclosed. One exemplary method includes generating a lookup table (“LUT”) to track each memory page located across multiple portions of a volatile memory. The records in the LUT are updated to keep track of data locations. When the PCD enters a sleep state to conserve energy, the LUT may be queried to determine which specific memory pages in a first portion of volatile memory (e.g., an upper bank) contain data content and which pages in a second portion of volatile memory (e.g., a lower bank) are available for receipt of content. Based on the query, the location of the data in the memory pages of the upper bank is known and can be quickly migrated to memory pages in the lower bank which are identified for receipt of the data.

  • Publication number: 20150172977
Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein relate to devices and methods that provide adaptive CRE-based offset parameters that take into account the speed of a UE and that take into account the DL/UL traffic balance being experienced by the UE. For example, if the speed of a UE is greater than the predefined speed, the UE utilizes an adaptive CRE-based offset parameter that has a low value or is equal to zero. Similarly, if the balance of downlink/uplink traffic being experienced by a UE is mainly downlink traffic, the UE utilizes an adaptive CRE-based offset parameter that has a low value or is equal to zero. Consequently, the embodiments disclosed herein reduce the handover failure associated with CRE particularly for high speed UEs while also being able to increase downlink system capacity if the balance of the downlink and uplink traffic experienced by the UE is mostly downlink traffic.

  • Publication number: 20130242735
Abstract: Described herein is a technique for aggregating background traffic packets by the background users instead of performing a random access procedure to request an uplink resource for each new packet. Since the same physical random access channel (PRACH) resources are used for random access procedures by multiple UEs, collisions can occur. The PRACH is expected to operate with very low collision rates, but if the number of users increases, the collision rate increases as well as the error rate. The disclosed technique reduces the collision rate by reducing the number of random access procedures used to transmit background traffic.
