Abstract: Systems and methods for an electronic shopping system are provided. The electronic shopping system includes a shopping cart tablet and a mobile terminal that can be hand-held and/or coupled to any suitable product carrying device. The shopping cart tablet includes a display to display information relating to ordinary operation of the tablet and/or a mobile terminal. The shopping cart tablet also includes a charge cradle for charging the mobile terminal. The mobile terminal includes a window in which a bar code reader is able to read a bar code label and a display for displaying product information. A shopping cart handle is also included in the electronic shopping system for supporting the shopping cart tablet and mobile terminal. A storage rack that is operable to store and/or charge shopping cart tablets and/or mobile terminals is also included in the electronic shopping system.

In particular, the battery holding portion may include a battery having an anode and/or a cathode formed in a shape corresponding to a shape of an outer surface of the battery holding portion and a connector connecting the battery to the circuitry of the mobile unit. In addition, the battery holding portion may include a protective material coating a portion of the anode and/or the cathode and a covering material coating the protective material to form an outer surface of the battery holding portion.

Abstract: Described is an optical imaging system which a plurality of optical imaging devices coupled to one another via a communication network. Each of the optical imaging devices may include an apparatus for optically reading encoded data and storing the data in a data file, a voice recording apparatus for recording a voice message and storing the message in a message file and a voice reproducing apparatus. In addition, the device may include a file handling apparatus for assembling a transmission file and addressing the transmission file to an intended recipient one of the plurality of devices. The transmission file may include the data and message files. The transmission file is configured so that, upon receipt by the recipient device, the message file is automatically executed and played. Furthermore, the device may include a communication apparatus for communicating with other devices via the network, wherein the communication apparatus forwards the transmission file to the recipient device via the network.
