  • Publication number: 20030165569
Abstract: A polymerized hydrogel composition for hydrating or dehydrating a surface, particularly a dermatological surface, to which it is applied and a method for forming the composition. The composition is comprised of a mixture of two polymerizable materials, a two-part redox catalyst system and a two-part polymerization medium. The percentage by weight of each element in the composition may be varied within stated percentage ranges and depending to the desired application. The rate at which hydration or dehydration occurs may be controllably altered by varying the percentages of certain of the composition elements and by adding either or both of a fibrous filler material and a humectant to the composition.

  • Patent number: 6573581
Abstract: In a semiconductor p-i-n photodiode an undoped absorption region (10) is epitaxially grown between two highly doped regions (14, 16). In prior art lattice matched InGaAs p-i-n photodiodes current epitaxial structures use low InP cap (16) doping (n˜2.5−6×1016/cm3), and nominally undoped (not intentionally doped, n˜1×1013−5×1014/cm3) InGaAs absorption regions (10). The shunt resistances of p-i-n photodiodes according to the present invention with intentional doping between n˜5×1017/cm3 and 1×1014/cm3, in the InGaAs absorption region (52, 60) are significantly increased over that of a standard structure (non-intentionally doped).

  • Patent number: 6520710
Abstract: An embodiment of a component assembly for use in a mechanism includes a first member having a pair of spaced flanges with fastener receiving openings through the flanges. A second member is a hardened powdered metal part including spaced seats engaging the flanges and slots in the seats connecting with enlarged recesses. The slots and recesses have openings extending through sides of the second member. Inserts extending into the recesses through the openings have fastener engaging openings aligned with the fastener receiving openings in the flanges of the first member. Fasteners extend through the flanges and the slots to the insert openings, fixing the flanges of the first member to the seats of the second member. Exemplary assemblies are illustrated. The assemblies provide hardened wearing surfaces made from powdered metal with manufacture simplified by the fastener inserts received in openings formed parallel to the other major surfaces of the powdered metal components.

  • Patent number: 6465755
Abstract: A process for the manufacture of repair material. The repair material is ductile and readily mechanically deformed and can be used in the repair of turbine components. The process comprises providing a directionally solidified material, cold-swaging the directionally solidified material, and heat treating the cold-swaged material into the repair material. The repair material, after the steps of cold-swaging and heat treatment, comprises a microstructure that is essentially free from cracks, for repairing the turbine component. The invention also sets forth methods for repair of articles, such as turbine components, using the repair material, and a turbine component repaired using the repair material.
