Abstract: A method and an apparatus display marks in an image data set, wherein an image data set comprising marks is provided and wherein during a review phase not all marks within the image data set are displayed at the same time. A list of the marks can be generated by sorting the marks depending on a predetermined sorting criterion and wherein the marks are displayed temporally one after another within the image data set in accordance with the generated list. The image data set is for example a medical image data set, wherein the marks are CAD marks and wherein the sorting criterion is the probability of marking illness, in particular the suspiciousness.

  • Publication number: 20080008903
Abstract: A method of producing a clad sheet article having superplastic properties, and the resulting clad sheet article. The method involves producing a cladding layer onto at least one rolling face of a core ingot made of a metal having superplastic properties, preferably by co-casting, to form a clad ingot and then rolling said clad ingot to produce a sheet article. The core ingot includes an element that diffuses from an interior of the ingot to a surface at superplastic forming temperatures thereby deteriorating surface properties of the ingot. The cladding layer is provided with an element (dopant) that reacts with the element of the core to reduce the ability of the element to diffuse through the cladding layer.

  • Publication number: 20070130206
Abstract: A system and method for using heterogeneous data from multiple healthcare information sources in a medical decision support system is disclosed. Each healthcare information system stores medical data using a different local schema. The medical decision support system provides responses to user queries. A query is received from a user that is generated in a standardized global schema. The query includes information from medical ontologies. Database queries are generated from the user queries that use the medical ontologies to generate constraints in the queries. The medical ontologies are also used to infer database queries. The generated query is translated into multiple queries for the multiple healthcare systems wherein each query is in the local schema of the healthcare information system that is being queried. Each database query is transmitted to one of the healthcare information systems based on the local schema of the particular query.

  • Publication number: 20070033509
Abstract: A novel method and apparatus for efficiently coding and decoding data in a data transmission system is described. A concatenated coding scheme is presented that is easily implemented, and that provides acceptable coding performance characteristics for use in data transmission systems. The inventive concatenated channel coding technique is well suited for small or variable size packet data transmission systems. The technique may also be adapted for use in a continuous mode data transmission system. The method and apparatus reduces the complexity, cost, size and power consumption typically associated with the prior art channel coding methods and apparatuses, while still achieving acceptable coding performance. The present invention advantageously performs concatenated channel coding without the necessity of a symbol interleaver. In addition, the present invention is simple to implement and thereby consumes much less space and power that do the prior art approaches.

  • Publication number: 20060215778
Abstract: Techniques for performing frequency control in an OFDM system are described. In one aspect, frequency acquisition is performed based on a received pilot, and frequency tracking is performed based on received OFDM symbols. For frequency acquisition, an initial frequency error estimate may be derived based on the received pilot, and an automatic frequency control (AFC) loop may be initialized with the initial frequency error estimate. For frequency tracking, a frequency error estimate may be derived for each received OFDM symbol, and the AFC loop may be updated with the frequency error estimate. Frequency error in input samples is corrected by the AFC loop with the initial frequency error estimate as well as the frequency error estimate for each received OFDM symbol. In another aspect, a variable number of samples of a received OFDM symbol are selected, e.g., based on the received OFDM symbol timing, for use for frequency error estimation.

  • Publication number: 20060203950
Abstract: Techniques for performing frequency control using dual-loop automatic frequency control (AFC) are described. The dual-loop AFC includes an inner loop that corrects short-term frequency variations (e.g., due to Doppler effect) and an outer loop that corrects long-term frequency variations (e.g., due to component tolerances and temperature variations). In one design, a first inner loop is implemented for frequency control of a first system (e.g., a broadcast system), a second inner loop is implemented for frequency control of a second system (e.g., a cellular system), and at least one outer loop is implemented for adjusting a reference frequency used to receive signals from the first and second systems. Each inner loop estimates and corrects the frequency error in an input signal for the associated system and may be enabled when receiving the input signal from the system. The reference frequency may be used for frequency downconversion, sampling and/or other purposes.
