  • Patent number: 10887048
Abstract: A sink device is configured to establish a Bluetooth connection with a source device. The sink device receives a transmission from the source device that includes a plurality of data blocks, an item of check information, and a plurality of parity blocks during a transmission time duration. The sink device determines, prior to receiving an entirety of the transmission, whether at least one of received data blocks includes an error based on at least the item of check information and, when the at least one of the received data blocks includes the error and prior to receiving all of the plurality of parity blocks, the sink device performs an error correction operation on a first one of the received data blocks based on a first one of the parity blocks.

  • Patent number: 10855411
Abstract: A source device connected to a sink device over a first wireless connection. The source device identifies a frame for retransmitting a voice packet associated with a real time application from the source device to the sink device, determines that a precedent operation is scheduled for the frame, delays the precedent operation to a subsequent frame, following the retransmitting of the voice packet and scheduling a retransmission operation for retransmitting the voice packet during the frame.

  • Patent number: 10834738
Abstract: Communication between a source device and one or more pairs of accessory devices and between accessory devices within pairs of accessory devices is scheduled using slot availability masks (SAMs). A primary accessory device provides to the source device information about requirements for communication between the primary accessory device and a secondary accessory device. The source device determines a SAM map that specifies a periodic cycle of time slots, with time slots marked as available or unavailable for transmission and/or reception. The SAM map satisfies requirements to avoid collisions between communication between the source device and the accessory devices and communication between accessory devices within pairs of accessory devices. When multiple pairs of accessory devices establish connections with the source device, internal communication between accessory devices within pairs of accessory devices are aligned to use at least a common overlapping set of time slots.

  • Publication number: 20200351781
Abstract: A first device may communicate via a first wireless interface (WI) and a second WI, with the second WI operating at a relatively higher power level than the first WI. The first device may receive a scan notification corresponding to wireless scanning performed by a second device. The first device may subsequently perform wireless scanning using the second WI in response to the scan notification indicating that the first device is within effective communication range of a third device. The first device may receive the scan notification over a wireless connection established between the first device and the second device using the first WI. The first device may transmit filter information to the second device, the filter information indicating when, and for which scans the first device is to receive scan notifications. The first device may also activate the second WI and use the second WI to perform ranging and/or control operations associated with the third device.

  • Patent number: 10681640
Abstract: In order to reduce the power consumption after a transmitting electronic device in a wireless network has been detected, a receiving electronic device calculates transmit times of subsequent beacons from the transmitting electronic device based on a clock drift of the transmitting electronic device and the beacon period. Then, the receiving electronic device receives the subsequent beacon by opening scan windows that encompass the calculated transmit times. However, because the transmit times are more predictable after the transmitting electronic device has been detected (and the clock drift of the transmitting electronic device is known to the receiving electronic device), the receiving electronic device can reduce the width of the scan windows. In addition, the transmitting electronic device can further reduce the power consumption by increasing the beacon period.

  • Publication number: 20200107329
Abstract: System and methods for using channel quality reports to reduce inter-band interference are disclosed. Channel information is received at a first wireless communication device from a second wireless communication device. The first wireless device is operating in a first frequency range, and the second wireless device is operating in a second frequency range. The first frequency range is adjacent to the second frequency range. A channel quality report is generated at the first wireless communication device. The channel quality report indicates that particular sub-bands in the first frequency range have low channel quality. The particular sub-bands are selected using the channel information.

  • Patent number: 10499404
Abstract: Disclosed embodiments include a base station. The base station includes a receiver that receives a channel quality report identifying one or more particular sub-bands in a first frequency band that, when used to transmit information, causes interference in one or more channels of a second frequency band that is adjacent to the first frequency band. The base station further includes a processor that selects one or more sub-bands in the first frequency band to assign based on the channel quality report, the selected sub-band(s) avoiding the one or more particular sub-bands identified in the channel quality report. Additionally, the base station includes a transmitter that sends a sub-band assignment for the selected sub-band(s). The first frequency is a Long Term Evolution (LTE) frequency and the base station is an eNodeB base station in one embodiment.

  • Publication number: 20190104423
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for communicating audio packets with ultra-low latency at high data rates from an audio source device to one or more audio output devices over a wireless personal area network (WPAN) connection, such as via a Bluetooth connection. Latency is reduced by using time-efficient audio coding and decoding, limited retransmissions, reduced time and frequency of acknowledgements, and by combining Bluetooth Classic (BTC) packets for downlink audio and downlink control with Bluetooth Low Energy (BTLE) packets for uplink control, uplink acknowledgements, and inter-device wireless communication. The number of retransmissions and packet concealments per frame cycle can be limited to an upper threshold number to satisfy a low latency requirement.
