Abstract: A silo transport system includes a vehicle and a silo configured to store material when in a vertical orientation supported on the ground surface, and to be transported in a horizontal orientation on the vehicle. The vehicle includes a pivoting cradle supporting the silo in the horizontal orientation and a lock to releasably attach the cradle to the silo. A cradle controller pivots the cradle from a lowered position to a raised position where the silo is in the vertical orientation resting on the ground surface. When the cradle is attached to the silo, the cradle controller pivots the cradle away from the raised position to the lowered position when the silo attached to the cradle is empty, and is inoperative to pivot the cradle away from the raised position toward the lowered position when the silo attached to the cradle contains greater than a threshold amount of the material.

The service management system remotely manages delivery of application services, which can be voice controlled, by a gateway, e.g. by selectively activating/deactivating service logic modules in the gateway. The service management system also may selectively provide secure communications and exchange of information among gateway devices and among associated endpoint devices. An exemplary service management system includes a router connected to the network and one or more computer platforms, for implementing management functions. Examples of the functions include a connection manager for controlling system communications with the gateway devices, an authentication manager for authenticating each gateway device and controlling the connection manager and a subscription manager for managing applications services and/or features offered by the gateway devices.

Abstract: A tag-based, user-directed media recommendation scheme is described herein. For example described herein is a recommender system (and method implemented by the recommender system) comprising: a recommendation engine configured to generate a recommendations list which includes a current set of recommendations for a user of a client device; and, a tag engine configured to: (1) receive the recommendations list; (2) obtain information about representative items associated with the user of the client device; (3) correlate the recommendations with tags; (4) correlate the representative items with the tags, (5) sort the tags into a tag list; and (6) provide the recommendations list and the tag list to the client device. The representative items include at least one of following: (1) an item previously purchased by the user; (2) an item previously watched by the user; (3) an item previously placed on a wish-list by the user; and (4) an item recommended by the recommendation engine for the user.

Abstract: An intelligent gateway device provided at a premise (home or business) for providing and managing application services associated with use and support of a plurality of digital endpoint devices associated with the premises. The device includes a communications and processing infrastructure integrated with a peer and presence messaging based communications protocol for enabling communications between the device and an external support network and between the device and connected digital endpoint devices. A services framework at the gateway device implements the communications and processing infrastructure for enabling service management, service configuration, and authentication of user of services at the intelligent gateway. The framework provides a storage and execution environment for supporting and executing received service logic modules relating to use, management, and support of the digital endpoint devices.

Abstract: A method is provided for optimizing a flight of an aircraft with at least one segment of formation flight. The method includes accessing flight plans for flights of a fleet, and transforming the flight plans into values of a set of features that describe segments of the flights. The values are applied to a machine learning model trained to predict the segment(s) during which the aircraft is within a region that includes at least one second aircraft of the fleet that is thereby capable of serving as a leading aircraft in the segment(s) of formation flight in which the aircraft is a trailing aircraft. A notification is sent to the aircraft of the segment(s) and the second aircraft capable of serving as the leading aircraft. And a second notification is sent to the second aircraft of the segment(s) and the aircraft capable of serving as the trailing aircraft.

Abstract: An intramedullary stem prosthesis includes a trunnion tapered in a first direction toward a proximal end of the intramedullary stem, and a conical shaft interfacing with the trunnion at a modular taper junction. The conical shaft is tapered in a second direction toward a distal end of the second component and has a proximal portion, a distal portion, and flutes positioned about a longitudinal axis of the conical shaft and extending along an entire length of the conical shaft and terminating at the modular taper junction such that the flutes intersect the modular taper junction. The proximal portion defines a first taper angle, the distal portion defines a second taper angle greater than the first taper angle, and the flutes define a major diameter of the conical shaft. The major diameter tapers at a major diameter taper angle that is constant along the entire length of the conical shaft.

Abstract: A structure includes an active device over an area of a substrate, and a heat spreading isolation structure adjacent the active device. The isolation structure includes a dielectric layer above a heat-conducting layer. The heat-conducting layer may include polycrystalline graphite. The heat-conducting layer provides a heat sink, which provides a high thermal conductivity path for heat with low electrical conductivity. The heat-conducting layer may extend into the substrate. The substrate may include an SOI substrate in which case the heat-conducting layer may extend through the buried insulator thereof.

Abstract: Systems and methods for authenticating autonomous vehicle travel networks are provided. A system can obtain map data descriptive of a number of segment attributes for a number of travel way segments within a travel way network. The system can obtain operational domain parameters for the travel way segments and generate an operational domain including a number of operational travel way segments with segment attributes that achieve the operational domain parameters. The system can compare the operational domain to approval criteria associated with a service entity to verify that the operational travel way segments of the operational domain comply with service entity policies. The system can provide a verified operational domain to an autonomous vehicle for use in traversing the travel network. An operational domain that does not meet the approval criteria can be modified to comply with the approval criteria before being provided to an autonomous vehicle.

Abstract: In some embodiments, gaze-tracking-based image downscaling for multi-party video communication may be provided. In some embodiments, a set of gaze locations may be received from a set of receiving devices during concurrent video communication sessions between the receiving devices and a sending device. Different collections of positions may be determined based on the gaze locations, and, for each such collection, a spatial indicator (e.g., a bounded region) may be determined. A first downscaled encoding of the source image (from the sending device) may be generated based on the first spatial indicator, and a second downscaled encoding of the source image may be generated based on the second spatial indicator, etc. The downscaled encodings may then be sent to the respective receiving devices during the concurrent video communication sessions.
