  • Publication number: 20220323693
Abstract: A connector for connecting a container containing a medical fluid to a vascular access device may include an upper housing defining a first internal chamber, and a lower housing coupled to the upper housing and defining a second internal chamber for circulation of the medical fluid into the outlet. The connector may further include a slider disposed at least partially in the first and second internal chambers, and a plug coupled to a distal end of the slider. The slider may be reciprocally movable between (i) an open position, where the plug is spaced apart from a floor of the internal chamber to allow the medical fluid to flow through the outlet, and (ii) a closed position where the plug abuts the floor of the second internal chamber to block the medical fluid from flowing through the outlet.

  • Publication number: 20220313904
Abstract: A connector for coupling a container carrying a medical fluid to a vascular access device may include a housing comprising and inner surface defining an internal chamber comprising a fluid channel disposed in the internal chamber. The fluid channel may include a pair of oppositely positioned cutouts. The connector may further include a slider disposed and supported in the internal chamber and having an internal compartment and an aperture through inner walls of the internal compartment. The slider may be reciprocally movable between (i) a first position, where the aperture of the slider is axially aligned with the pair of cutouts to allow the medical fluid to flow through the outlet, and (ii) a second position where the aperture of the slider is not aligned with the pair of cutouts and the inner walls of the slider blocks fluid connection between the slider and the fluid channel.

  • Publication number: 20220088300
Abstract: A flow control device includes a housing having a primary inlet, a secondary inlet, and an outlet disposed downstream of the primary and secondary inlets. The flow control device further includes a chamber defined by an inner circumferential surface of the housing. The chamber fluidly connects the primary and secondary inlets with the outlet. A valve member is mounted in the chamber to pivot toward and block the primary inlet by fluid pressure in the secondary inlet when fluid pressure into the secondary inlet is higher than fluid pressure into the primary inlet.

  • Publication number: 20220023534
Abstract: A flow control device includes an upper housing, a lower housing, a chamber interposed between and defined by the upper and lower housings, and a valve member. The upper housing includes a primary inlet having an internal surface defining a cavity and a secondary inlet. The lower housing defines an outlet of the flow control device. The chamber fluidly connects the primary and secondary inlets with the outlet. A valve member is reciprocally disposed at least partially in the cavity and partially in the chamber to (i) selectively permit fluid flow in the primary inlet in a first direction when a fluid level in the chamber is below a predetermined level, and (ii) prevent fluid backflow in a second direction opposite to the first direction when the fluid level in the chamber is above the predetermined level.

  • Patent number: 10758398
Abstract: A guide apparatus for facilitating formation of a stoma includes a guide having an outer flange segment arranged about a central longitudinal axis and an insert segment. The flange segment is configured for engaging end margins of a body vessel extending through an opening in skin of a subject, and defines a plurality of apertures. The insert segment extends from the outer flange segment along the longitudinal axis. The insert segment is configured for at least partial positioning within the body vessel to maintain the patency of the body vessel. The guide apparatus further includes a plurality of fasteners for insertion within respective apertures of the flange segment of the guide. The fasteners are configured for penetrating the end margins of the body vessel extending through the opening in the skin to attach the end margins to the skin to thereby create a stoma.

  • Publication number: 20190388080
Abstract: A surgical retractor includes an outer housing, an inner shaft, and a tool assembly. The outer housing defines a longitudinal axis and a longitudinal bore that extends along the longitudinal axis. The inner shaft is moveable within the outer housing. The tool assembly includes a shaft portion and a retractor member. The shaft portion is connected to the inner shaft by a pivot member that defines an axis that is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the outer housing. A distal portion of the shaft portion supports the retractor member, wherein the retractor member can pivot about the pivot member from a first position in which the shaft portion is aligned with the longitudinal axis of the outer housing to a second position in which the shaft portion is positioned at an acute angle with respect to the longitudinal axis of the outer housing.
