  • Publication number: 20170064739
Abstract: In an example of wireless communications, a transmitting station may set multiple network allocation vectors (NAVs) to reserve a communication medium for transmitting a frame in the amount of time indicated by the NAVs. A receiving station that receives a frame may identify which NAV is intended to be set by the receiving station. The receiving station may update a first type of NAV with duration information from the frame when the frame is received from a same wireless network, and update a second type of NAV with duration information from the frame when the frame is received from a different wireless network. The receiving station may ignore setting the NAV when the frame is received from the different wireless network. Alternatively, the receiving station may not ignore setting the NAV when the frame is received from the same wireless network. Other methods, apparatus, and computer-readable media are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 9485658
Abstract: Systems and methods for wireless communication are disclosed. In one aspect an access point (AP) includes a processor configured to generate a frame with an information element (IE) assigning a restricted access window (RAW) and to determine whether or not to include a field in the IE indicating a group of one or more devices allowed to transmit during the RAW based on a type of the RAW. The processing system further includes an interface to output the generated frame for transmission. According to aspects, at least one option type (e.g., Omni) of the RAW type (e.g., Simplex) is accessible by devices regardless of their device type. Accordingly, the AP may not include the field in the IE indicating the group of one or more devices allowed to transmit during the RAW for the at least one option type of RAW.

  • Patent number: 9439188
Abstract: In a power save scheme, signaling and information transfers are scheduled to increase the amount of time a device in a wireless system can operate in power save mode. Multiple periods of time are allocated for signaling and for information transfer during a beacon interval. Control signaling during a signaling block indicates whether a given device should be awake for an information transfer during a subsequent information transfer period during the beacon interval. Thus, based on the indication, the device determines whether to be awake or asleep during the information transfer period.

  • Publication number: 20160073288
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for improving system throughput by reducing contention in a peer-to-peer (P2P) data link network. Specifically, the present disclosure provides a method of ordering data transmissions in a data transmission window based on an order of traffic announcement messages in a corresponding paging window. Moreover, a wireless station of the P2P data link network may reserve portions of a shared wireless medium for transmissions of other wireless stations belonging to the same P2P data link network and preventing transmission of out-of-network wireless stations.
