  • Patent number: 12223191
Abstract: An operating system, or operating system update, management service uses a shared read-only multi-attach volume of a block-based storage service to distribute operating systems or operating system updates to a set of virtualized computing instances. Also, to store launch specific information, that is specific to a given virtualized computing instance, additional writable volumes are used, wherein a write volume is attached to each of the computing instances of the set. This eliminates the need to provide a full copy of an OS volume to each of the computing instances.

  • Publication number: 20240394414
Abstract: Executing workflows with different computations on different types of remote computing devices is difficult and time consuming, sometimes taking days. A system of computing devices is provided to generate a workflow of computing tasks that specify different types of computing hardware resources, including quantum computing and classical computing resources, and to generate a schedule of jobs to be executed that is consistent with the workflow. The schedule of jobs is automatically executed, as computational tasks are dispatched to different computing resource providers at different times. Two or more computational tasks can be dispatched in parallel and at the same time, according to parallel tasks in the workflow.

  • Patent number: 11403306
Abstract: Techniques for implementing a non-relational database that makes efficient use of collections within the database. For one or more collections, two or more sub-collections can be created for storing documents. Each collection can be configured as a single partition entity or a partitioned entity within the database. Each sub-collection is identified by a sub-collection identifier. If the collection is configured as a partitioned entity, then a partition key can be determined for documents to be accessed in the collection. The partition key can be extended with the sub-collection ID to form a compound property (sub-collection ID, partition key) that determines placements of the respective documents in the identified sub-collection across partitions of the collection. If the collection is configured as a single partition entity, then a field for the partition key is ignored and the respective documents are placed in the identified sub-collection within the single partition of the collection.

  • Patent number: 11351343
Abstract: The present invention is a simple-to-use IV placement assist device with an added safety feature. A catheter advancer is slidably integrated with a base to guide advancement of a catheter linearly along the insertion path of the needle and catheter. A safety feature is engaged by a movable component moving from a first position to a second position, such movable enabling relative movement between the base and catheter advancer and/or catheter assembly, rotation of the needle about its length axis, and/or minor advancement of the catheter assembly to sheath the tip of the needle. The IV placement assist device stabilizes and guides the critical needle insertion and catheter advancement steps of a complication-prone and very common procedure.

  • Patent number: 11316656
Abstract: A time transfer modem includes a radio frequency integrated circuit (RFIC), a radio frequency (RF) front end, and processing circuitry. The RF front end is configured to receive and up-convert an input for time transfer with a remote station to generate an up-converted timing signal centered at a select frequency that is outside of a frequency range of interest but within an operational frequency range of the RFIC. The RF front end may also be configured to attenuate, via a pre-selection filter, up-converted adjacent signals to generate a filtered timing signal at the select frequency. The RFIC may be configured to down-convert and digitize the filtered timing signal to generate a digitized timing signal for signal processing by the processing circuitry to determine a clock difference between a local clock signal and the digitized timing signal that originated from the remote station.
