  • Publication number: 20080159478
Abstract: A method of continuous real-time monitoring and positioning of multi-leaf collimators during on and off radiation exposure conditions of radiation therapy to account for target motion relative to a radiation beam is provided. A prediction algorithm estimates future positions of a target relative to the radiation source. Target geometry and orientation are determined relative to the radiation source. Target, treatment plan, and leaf width data, and temporal interpolations of radiation doses are sent to the controller. Coordinates having an origin at an isocenter of the isocentric plane establish initial aperture end positions of the leaves that is provided to the controller, where motors to position the MLC midpoint aperture ends according to the position and target information. Each aperture end intersects a single point of a convolution of the target and the isocenter of the isocentric plane.

  • Publication number: 20080153497
Abstract: A detecting base station detects a wireless communication device by intercepting an uplink communication signal intended for an originating base station. In response to the detection of the wireless communication device, the detecting base station sends a message to the core network. The detecting base station includes a mobile communication device detector configured to intercept the uplink communication signal transmitted from the wireless communication device to the originating base station of a communication network. A network interface within the detecting base station is configured to send a device proximity message to the communication network where the device proximity message is based on the proximity of the wireless communication device to the detecting base station. The device proximity message may be a handoff request, distance, or other information that is derived or otherwise related to the intercepted uplink communication signal.

  • Publication number: 20080153939
Abstract: Oxygen-scavenging polymers and packaging for holding oxygen-sensitive products. A heat treatment process has been found to significantly increase the oxygen-scavenging performance of the polymer. The enhanced scavenging polymer can be effectively incorporated into various packaging, including transparent multilayer containers for beer and juice. In one embodiment, a multilayer package made from the scavenger provides an actual reduction in oxygen content of a contents of the package, over a long period of time (e.g., 24 weeks). The package can be stored unfilled for an extended period (without significant loss of scavenging capability) and will scavenge substantially immediately upon filling with a liquid product. The package may incorporate a relatively low weight percentage of the scavenger, thus providing enhanced scavenging in a cost-effective manner.

  • Publication number: 20080152578
Abstract: The current invention relates to an apparatus for the production of stable oxy-chloro acid. The invention allows for simple ion exchange while modifying the pH to allow the chlorous acid to be in a stable form so that it does not rapidly degrading into chlorine dioxide and can be used as an effective biocide and cleaning composition. The apparatus also provides for an uninterrupted production of chlorous acid, which allows for the use of chlorous acid to be used in batch or continuous cleaning treatments.

  • Publication number: 20080152579
Abstract: The invention is a method of producing stable chlorous acid for use as a cleaning agent and biocidal composition. The method passes a salt of an oxy-chloro acid over a resin to allow for an ion exchange that produced the oxy-chloro acid. The invention allows for the production of a stable chlorous acid that can be used as a biocidal agent and a cleaning agent without the effect on many surfaces or membranes as normal oxy-chloro compositions.

  • Publication number: 20080155429
Abstract: Technologies for transient personal preference customization of environments, devices and systems based on user preference data. Such technologies enable users to maintain personal preference data on mobile or other devices, such as cell phones, personal data assistants (“PDA”), or the like, such that the data can be transferred to devices and systems capable of conforming parameters under their control to the preferences expressed in the data. For example, a frequent traveler may define preferences regarding room temperature, ambient lighting, music style, and the like and maintain these preferences in a mobile device such as a cell phone. Upon arrival at a hotel room, for example, the systems of the hotel may access the preference data and adjust the parameters of the room, and the devices and systems in the room, to conform to the user's preferences while the user is in the room or checked into the hotel.

  • Publication number: 20080150092
Abstract: Various embodiments of the present invention relate to systems, devices, and methods for treating a semiconductor substrate, such as a silicon wafer, in order to reduce current leakage therein. A semiconductor substrate is provided a plurality of heating treatments that create a denuded zone adjacent to a surface of the substrate and a core zone below the denuded zone. Oxygen impurities within the denuded zone are removed through an oxygen out-diffusion heat treatment. A plurality of macroscopic bulk micro defects is generated within the core zone through the combination of an agglomeration heat treatment and a macroscopic growth heat treatment. This plurality of macroscopic bulk micro defects inhibits migration of metallic contaminants that are located within the substrate. For exemplary purposes, certain embodiments are described relating to a semiconductor wafer heated in a sequence of three treatments.

  • Patent number: 7390472
Abstract: A low cost and scalable processes for producing nanostructured LiFexM1-xPO4 and nanostructured LiFexM1-xPO4/C composite powders, where 1?x?0.1 and M is a metal cation, such as Mn, Co, Ni, and V. Electronics made of either nanostructured LiFexM1-xPO4 powders or nanostructured LiFexM1-xPO4/C composite powders exhibit good electrochemical properties. The electronic conductivity of nanostructured LiFexM1-xPO4 powders is enhanced by intimately mixing them with ultrafine carbon particles. Thus, the use of nanostructured LiFexM1-xPO4/C composite powders will lead to high power density, low cost and environmentally friendly rechargeable Li-ion batteries.
