  • Patent number: 9483517
Abstract: Techniques are provided for maintaining data persistently in one format, but making that data available to a database server in more than one format. For example, one of the formats in which the data is made available for query processing is based on the on-disk format, while another of the formats in which the data is made available for query processing is independent of the on-disk format. Data that is in the format that is independent of the disk format may be maintained exclusively in volatile memory to reduce the overhead associated with keeping the data in sync with the on-disk format copies of the data.

  • Patent number: 9480793
Abstract: Some embodiments of an infusion pump system may include an occlusion sensor that can be used to detect when an occlusion exists in the fluid path between the medicine reservoir and the infusion site on the user's skin. Such an occlusion may occur, for example, when the fluid flow line (e.g., a cannula, infusion set tubing, or the like) is kinked. If the medicine dispensation path to the user is occluded, the user may receive no dosage or a lower dosage of the medicine. As such, the occlusion sensor can be used to indicate when the fluid is flowing or not flowing, thereby permitting the infusion pump system to communicate an alarm to the user if an occlusion exists.

  • Publication number: 20160315811
Abstract: An administrator can define or modify one or more service graphs. Next, the administrator can register service appliances along with their device package files with a controller. Then, the controller can establish the capabilities of the service devices, and classify the service devices as legacy or service tag switching (STS) capable devices. Then, the controller can create one or more instances of the service graph, by populating the service nodes into the service graph. Then, the application owner can attach their endpoint groups (EPGs) to the service graphs created by the administrator. Then, a service in the network can be automatically provisioned using the service graph to configure one or more nodes in an associated service chain of the service according to information in the service graph.

  • Publication number: 20160315905
Abstract: A method to determine the duration of time an email is opened for on a recipient's computer or mobile electronic device. The purpose of the present invention is to capture this timing information by modifying existing pixel tracking technology in a novel way by not actually sending back the pixel to the REC. Rather the RTS will hold open the pixel image request but not actually send any image data back. The key method step is to have the RTS do the opposite of what the REC is requesting in the HTTP application layer request by not sending any image data. While the request is held open at the HTTP layer, the RTS is giving the REC an opportunity to send a signal via the network TCP/IP layer of when the email is no longer open.

  • Publication number: 20160314613
Abstract: Examples of time-of-flight (“TOF”) simulation of multipath light phenomena are described. For example, in addition to recording light intensity for a pixel during rendering, a graphics tool records the lengths (or times) and segment counts for light paths arriving at the pixel. Such multipath information can provide a characterization of the temporal light density of light that arrives at the pixel in response to one or more pulses of light. The graphics tool can use stratification and/or priority sampling to reduce variance in recorded light path samples. Realistic, physically-accurate simulation of multipath light phenomena can, in turn, help calibrate a TOF camera so that it more accurately estimates the depths of real world objects observed using the TOF camera. Various ways to improve the process of inferring imaging conditions such as depth, reflectivity, and ambient light based on images captured using a TOF camera are also described.
