  • Patent number: 9383258
Abstract: A spectrometer comprises a plurality of isolated optical channels comprising a plurality of isolated optical paths. The isolated optical paths decrease cross-talk among the optical paths and allow the spectrometer to have a decreased length with increased resolution. In many embodiments, the isolated optical paths comprise isolated parallel optical paths that allow the length of the device to be decreased substantially. In many embodiments, each isolated optical path extends from a filter of a filter array, through a lens of a lens array, through a channel of a support array, to a region of a sensor array. Each region of the sensor array comprises a plurality of sensor elements in which a location of the sensor element corresponds to the wavelength of light received based on an angle of light received at the location, the focal length of the lens and the central wavelength of the filter.

  • Patent number: 9386542
Abstract: The present disclosure sets forth a method for tracking path loss in which a monitoring device issues a series of power step commands and transmit power requests to a reporting device, receives transmit power data in response to the transmit power requests, and creates a data structure (e.g., a table) that maps the number of steps (e.g., number of steps increased or decreased) of the power step commands with the reported transmit powers. This process is performed during the initial connection between the monitoring device and the reporting device.

  • Patent number: 9383794
Abstract: An integrated circuit (IC) includes a first I/O cell, a logic cell, a trigger signal generation circuit, and a second I/O cell having a voltage selection pin. I/O interfaces of the first I/O cell receive first and second supply voltages, respectively, and I/O interfaces of the second I/O cell receive third and fourth supply voltages, respectively. The first I/O cell generates a first trigger signal when the first supply voltage reaches a first predetermined voltage. The logic cell receives the first trigger signal and generates a safe-state signal. The trigger signal generation circuit generates a second trigger signal when the third supply voltage reaches a second predetermined voltage. The voltage selection pin receives the safe-state signal and the second trigger signal and sets the second I/O cell in a safe-state mode, which protects the second I/O cell from over voltage damage.

  • Publication number: 20160188569
Abstract: An approach is provided for an information handling system that includes a processor and a memory to generate a table of contents pertaining to a document. The approach semantically analyzes the document to identify semantic relationships of proximate elements of the document. A number of candidate headings corresponding to a semantically related section of the document are identified and each of the candidate headings are scored. Based on the scores of each of the candidate headings, a section heading for the semantically related section of the document is selected. The selected heading is then included in the table of contents for the section of the document. The process of identifying candidate headings, scoring candidates, and selecting the section heading is repeated for other semantically related sections of the document.

  • Publication number: 20160187181
Abstract: A weight management mat for passively and automatically monitoring weight for one or more individuals in a household. The weight management mat generally includes a housing having an upper mat and a lower mat between which is sealed a pair of perpendicular sensor arrays. Each sensor array includes fiber optic cables laid out in a grid pattern. One or more microbend inducers act to induce detectable microbends in the fiber optic cables when an individual steps on the upper mat. The change in light intensity caused by these microbends is recorded by photodetectors and processed by a microcontroller. The present invention may be utilized to identify each unique individual stepping on the present invention by the pressure map of their feet. Thus, recorded weight measurements may be tracked to aid in weight management.

  • Publication number: 20160189304
Abstract: There are provided systems and methods for detection of users and vehicle usage for variable insurance terms. A user may utilize a vehicle and require an insurance policy for usage of the vehicle. The user may have an existing insurance policy or may require a new insurance policy. Once the user is detected as utilizing the vehicle, usage factors of the vehicle by the user may be communicated to a variable insurance server. Usage factors may include a location of use of the vehicle, speed of travel, a driver history for the user, or other information. The server may determine a new insurance policy for the user or may determine an adjustment to the user's existing insurance policy. Such insurance policy changes may be based on the user, the vehicle, and the user's usage of the vehicle. The user may accept the server's proposal to initiate the change.

  • Publication number: 20160191413
Abstract: Some embodiments of the invention provide a method for performing network access filtering and/or categorization through guest introspection (GI) on a device. In some embodiments, this GI method intercepts directly on a device a data message that device is preparing to send, and uses a service appliance to determine whether the data message can be sent. The device in some embodiments is a guest virtual machine (VM) that executes on a multi-VM host computing device along with a service VM (SVM) that is the service appliance that determines whether the data message can be sent based on a set of filtering rules. In some embodiments, the method uses one or more introspectors (e.g., network introspector and/or file introspector) to capture introspection data from the guest VM (GVM) about the data message that the GVM is preparing to send. To perform the network access filtering, the GI method in some embodiments captures contextual information, such as user and application information (e.g.

  • Publication number: 20160191452
Abstract: An electronic messaging system and method with reduced traceability by separation of display of media component of message content and header information. An electronic message having an identifier of a recipient and a message content including a media component is received at a server from a sending user device at which a display for associating the media component with the electronic message is provided without displaying the identifier of a recipient with the media component such that a single screen capture of the identifier of a recipient and the media component is prevented. The electronic message including an identifier of a sending user is transmitted to a recipient user device at which a display presenting the media component is provided without displaying the identifier of a sending user such that a single screen capture of both the identifier of a sending user and the media component is prevented.
