  • Publication number: 20190056491
Abstract: A vehicle, a radar system for the vehicle, and method of driving the vehicle. A radar array having plurality of radar nodes is arranged along the vehicle. Each radar node includes a first transmitter at one end of the node, a second transmitter at a second end of the node and a plurality of receivers aligned between the first transmitter and the second transmitter. At least one of an aperture length of the nodes and a spacing between the nodes is a variable parameter. A processor activates a transmitter of the radar array to generate a test pulse, receive, at a receiver of the radar array, a reflection of the test pulse from an object, and determines an angular location of the object from the reflection of the test pulse. A trajectory of the vehicle can be changed using the determined angular location of the object.

  • Patent number: 7359434
Abstract: A system and method for communication between a wireless modem and wireless hub on a selected downstream channel of a plurality of downstream channels is provided. The selected downstream channel is selected by the wireless modem after receiving communication parameters for each of the downstream channels and selecting the selected downstream channel by determining the most efficient of the downstream channels at that time for downstream communication.

  • Patent number: 7123650
Abstract: A method for correcting for the offset carrier frequency in a wireless modem is provided. The method further allows for the periodic correction of the offset of the carrier frequency. A Fine tuning method is implemented that uses fine tuning frequency increments to determine minimum and maximum edges of a received frequency from which to calculate an offset used to adjust the transmitted frequency or the receiver of the wireless modem. Power correction is performed for variances in received signal power by adjusting an output power relative to differences in received power compared to an expected received power value.

  • Patent number: 6987754
Abstract: A system and method for adaptive modulation of downstream communication between a wireless hub and a wireless modem on a selected downstream channel is provided. The adaptive modulation allows for changing the downstream modulation on a packet by packet basis. The downstream modulation is changed by specifying modulation parameters including any of a modulation format, symbol rate, and FEC for each packet. A super frame may be utilized that includes a header that specifies different modulation parameters for each of multiple data packets associated with the super frame. The modulated transmissions are sent on fixed bandwidth channels that are specified based on the bit rate of the modulated transmission.

  • Patent number: 6940833
Abstract: A two dimensional scheduler integrates the allocation of both the time domain and the channel domain for upstream communication in a broadband wireless access system. This allows for the optimization of system resource usage and allows for dynamic switching between a number of different upstream channels by a modem. Modems are calibrated via a calibration message constructed at the hub by measuring some parameters of communication bursts between the modem to the hub. The modems rotate in using the available upstream channels so that each available channel is fully calibrated using actual communication bursts, keeping the parameters for each channel ready for use when assigned for communicating on any of the available channels.
