  • Publication number: 20120046684
Abstract: Aneurysms are treated by filling at least one double-walled filling structure with a curable medium within the aneurysm. The filling structures may be delivered over balloon deployment mechanisms in order to shape and open tubular lumens therethrough. Scaffolds are placed into the tubular lumens in order to help maintain the shape, anchor the filling structures in place, and provide improved blood flow transition into and out of the tubular lumens.

  • Publication number: 20110313403
Abstract: A locking mechanism (15) for a catheter includes a main body (20), a tip (30), and a locking arm (50). The locking arm includes a pivotable portion (56) selectively receivable in a contoured outer surface portion of the main body (24). One end of a tubular member is engageable with the distal end of the tip, and the other end is insertable into a body cavity, e.g., for drainage of fluid therefrom. A tension member (14), e.g. suture, extends through the locking mechanism and the tubular member, and is actuable to maneuver the inserted end of the tubular member into a desired configuration, such as a loop or a pigtail (12). An end of the tension member is receivable along the main body contoured surface following actuation, and is lockable therein upon receipt of the locking arm pivotable portion in the contoured surface, thereby locking the tubular member end in the desired configuration.

  • Publication number: 20110276078
Abstract: A system for treating an aneurysm includes a first double-walled filling structure having an outer wall and an inner wall. The filling structure is adapted to be filled with a hardenable fluid filling medium so that the outer wall conforms to an inside surface of the aneurysm and the inner wall forms a generally tubular lumen to permit blood flow therethrough. The inner wall comprises a blood contacting layer and a reinforcing layer. The reinforcing layer prevents circumferential creep or elastic expansion of the lumen.

The anti-gastric distress agent can include antacids, H2 blockers, proton pump inhibitors, or any combination thereof. The medical device can also include one or more sections having one or more anti-gastric distress agent or antimicrobial agents. The medical device has a length such that when the device is at least partially implanted the first section is accessible to the gastrointestinal portion of the patient's body. A second section having an antimicrobial agent may be external to the gastrointestinal portion. Preferably, device includes a first and second anti-gastric distress agent each having a different controlled release rate. The therapeutic agents can be disposed on one or more surfaces of the medical device and/or impregnated with the material of the medical device.

  • Publication number: 20100323005
Abstract: Sodium ibuprofen compositions and methods of manufacturing tablets and caplets comprising sodium ibuprofen are described. The formulation is advantageous because it allows for the formation of tablets having low sodium content and further provides tablets exhibiting improved physical stability, high tablet hardness and high strength, coupled with excellent dissolution and bioavailability characteristics. The formulations and processes are further advantageous because they can be produced in large quantities without an unacceptable number of defective tablets.
