    Abstract: A three-dimensional analog simulation test system for gas-liquid countercurrent in an abandoned mine goaf includes a three-dimensional analog simulation device configured to simulate an analog environment of gas-liquid countercurrent in an abandoned mine goaf, a gas supply system, an automatic water pressure control system and a hydraulic loading system. The three-dimensional analog simulation device includes a reaction frame and a three-dimensional analog simulation chamber. The reaction frame includes a beam, a base and a column for connecting the beam and the base. The three-dimensional analog simulation chamber is arranged inside the reaction frame. The test system can be used to simulate the gas-liquid countercurrent in an abandoned mine goaf so as to study the evolution of water accumulation and gas enrichment in long-term abandonment of closed mines and the migration evolution rules of gas-liquid two-phase in abandoned mines with high gas density.

For example, the battery monitoring system may include strain gauges to measure dimensions or changes in dimension of cells of the battery, and may determine states of charge of the cells based on dimensional changes over time, e.g., based on data from strain gauges. The dimensional changes may also be corrected for dimensional changes due to thermal strain. In addition, states of health of individual cells of the battery may be determined by comparing the dimensional changes of each of the cells over time. Further, the data from strain gauges may be received at various frequencies, e.g., based on an expected operational duration of the battery and/or based on a current state of charge or state of health.

    Abstract: A method and kit the simultaneous analysis of thyroid hormones (THs) and related metabolites in serum are disclosed. The method includes the extraction of THs and related metabolites, the derivatization of THs and related metabolites with 5-N-succinimidoxy-5-oxopentyl)triphenylphosphonium bromide (SPTPP), and the analysis of SPTPP derivatives using ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS). Free or total THs (T3 and T4) together with their related metabolites (MIT, DIT, T0, T1, rT1, 3,3?-T2, 3,5-T2, and rT3) can be determined simultaneously, rapidly, and accurately. This invention overcomes the limitation that the traditional method can only be used for the analysis of T3 and T4 with low specificity. The invention exhibits extremely high analytical sensitivity for all of the target analytes (femtogram level).

    Abstract: Soil contamination by heavy metals constitutes an important environmental problem, whereas field applicability of existing remediation technologies has encountered numerous obstacles, such as long operation time, high chemical cost, large energy consumption, secondary pollution, and soil degradation. A design and demonstration of a method is provided which is based on asymmetrical alternating current electrochemistry (AACE) that achieves high degrees of contaminant removal for different heavy metals (Cu, Pb, Cd) at different initial concentrations (from 100 to 10,000 ppm), all reaching corresponding regulation levels for residential scenario after rational treatment time (from 30 min to 6 h). No excessive nutrient loss in treated soil was observed and no secondary toxic product was produced. Long-term experiment and plant assay showed the high sustainability of the method and its feasibility for agricultural use.
