  • Publication number: 20060034355
Abstract: An echo processing technique for attenuating echo components of a direct signal X1n in a return signal Y2n. A receive gain Grn and a send gain Gen are calculated. The receive gain Grn is applied to the direct signal and an input signal X2n is produced and emitted into an echo generator system. The send gain Gen is applied to an output signal Y1n from the echo generator system and the return signal Y2n is produced. A coupling variable COR is calculated which is characteristic of the acoustic coupling between the direct signal X1n or the input signal X2n and the output signal Y1n. The receive gain Grn and the send gain Gen are calculated on the basis of the coupling variable.

  • Publication number: 20060036119
Abstract: The present invention is directed to novel alkylated aromatic compositions, zeolite catalyst compositions and processes for making the same. The catalyst compositions comprise zeolite Y and mordenite zeolite having a controlled macropore structure. The present invention is also directed to the preparation of the catalyst compositions and their use in the preparation of novel alkylated aromatic compositions. The catalyst compositions of the present invention exhibit reduced deactivation rates during the alkylation process, thereby increasing the life of the catalysts.

  • Publication number: 20060036425
Abstract: Methods systems and computer readable media for manipulating and displaying sparse data contained within very large datasets. Particular applications includes those to proteomics and metabolomics. Navigation of the large data sets from a global perspective may be practically implemented, so that a user is not confined to a narrow slice of data at a time, thus providing context of the whole dataset while viewing data within the dataset.

  • Patent number: 6997415
Abstract: Method and arrangement for dispersing fuel 62 within a fuel containment system 60 of an aircraft 30 including utilizing a fuel containment system on an aircraft that is located at least partially within a wing 34 of the aircraft and defines a reservoir portion 42 and a remote portion 44. Fuel is pumped during at least aircraft flight operation from the reservoir portion to the remote portion at a pumped rate 80, while simultaneously fuel that is contained in the remote portion of the fuel containment system is permitted to drain to the reservoir portion at a drainage rate 82. The drainage rate is less than the pumped rate. A fuel mass 64 is accumulated in the remote portion of the fuel containment system because of a difference between the pumped rate and the drainage rate and as a result, a counteractive moment 49 is induced in the aircraft that is opposingly directed to a lift moment 46 caused by wing-lift 45 during aircraft flight.

  • Patent number: 6999994
Abstract: A hardware device for processing the tasks of an algorithm of the type having a number of processes the execution of some of which depend on binary decisions has a plurality of task units (10, 12, 14), each of which are associated with a task defined as being either one process or one decision or one process together with a following decision. A task interconnection logic block (16) is connected to each task unit for communicating actions from a source task unit to a destination task unit. Each task unit includes a processor (18) for processing the steps of the associated task when a received action requests such a processing. A status manager (20) handles actions coming from other task units and builds actions to be sent to other task units.

  • Patent number: 6999436
Abstract: Method and apparatus for efficient routing of mobile node packets. Nodes in a network are configured to classify a received flow from a mobile node to a second node based upon a home address option in a packet in the flow if the address is present. The address is a home address of the mobile node. The classification has associated reserved resources at each node for the received flow. Therefore, the Quality of Service is maintained for the flow between the mobile node and the second node if the mobile node moves to a new location. Resources reserved in nodes in the old path are torn down and released, while reserved resources in nodes in the old and the new path need not be reserved again.

  • Patent number: 6997941
Abstract: A device is described that may be positioned at a location in an intervertebral disc for diagnosis or treatment of the disc. Treatment may include, for example, applying energy or removing material, and may decrease intradiscal pressure. Radiofrequency energy may be applied. A percutaneous method of repairing a fissure in the annulus pulposus comprises placing an energy source adjacent to the fissure and providing sufficient energy to the fissure to raise the temperature to at least about 45-70° C. and for a sufficient time to cause the collagen to weld. An intervertebral fissure also can be treated by placing a catheter with a lumen adjacent to the fissure and injecting sealant into the fissure via the catheter, thereby sealing the fissure. An intervertebral fissure additionally can be treated by providing a catheter having a distal end, a proximal end, a longitudinal axis, and an intradiscal section at the catheter's distal end on which there is at least one functional element.

  • Patent number: 6999193
Abstract: A system generates the report to include a header section representing information, a parts section listing line items, and a footer section representing information. The system prints a first page of the report including the header section, a first parts subsection, and the footer section. The first parts subsection lists a quantity of line items that is less than or equal to a first number. The system prints any additional pages of the report to include a header subsection, subsequent parts subsection, and a footer subsection. The header subsection represents a portion of the information represented by the header section, and the footer subsection represents a portion of the information represented by the footer section. The subsequent parts subsection(s) lists a quantity of line items that is less than or equal to a second number.

  • Patent number: 6999038
Abstract: The invention concerns a device for receiving and/or transmitting signals comprising at least two wave reception and/or transmission means consisting of a slot antenna and means for connecting at least one of said reception and/or transmission means to means using multibeam signals. The connection means consist of a common feeder line, the line being electromagnetically coupled with the slots of the slot antenna and being terminated by an electronic component enabling through a control signal to simulate a short circuit or an open circuit at the end of said line so that, when the component is in on-state the radiation pattern derived from the device is different from the radiation pattern derived from the device when the component is in off-state. The invention is applicable to the field of wireless transmissions.

  • Patent number: 6999649
Abstract: Technology for constructing a single layer polarization insensitive electrically switchable liquid crystal mirror is disclosed which serves as the basic element for constructing an optical router switch array in free space as well as waveguide format. The optical router switch array includes a plurality of switchable liquid crystal mirror elements having liquid crystal arranged in stack cells and/or in a waveguide configuration. The resulted optical router switches are motionless, polarization insensitive, stable within the operational spectral region, and stable versus temperature. The invention also includes methods for manufacturing a single switchable liquid crystal mirror element and the optical switch arrays. The same technology is further extended to constructing an electrically tunable optical filter that is motionless and polarization insensitive.

  • Publication number: 20060027565
Abstract: An apparatus for bathtub heater control configured for two distinct functional operations; i.e., nominal control and safety oversight. The nominal control portion of the apparatus responds to normal operating parameters to heat the bathtub water to the desired temperature and to maintain it there within defined limits of precision. One aspect of this portion of the apparatus is proportionate temperature control. This feature employs heater power at less than full to achieve a fine degree of control at or near the desired temperature. Moreover, once the desired temperature is achieved, proportionate power of the heating element permits the maintenance of the water temperature at a more precise level. The safety oversight portion has the feature of operating only when power is applied to the heating element. This feature avoids unnecessary deactivation of the heater or heating element due to false sensing of an unsafe condition.
