  • Publication number: 20050277289
Abstract: A method for etching a trench to a trench depth in a dielectric layer over a substrate is provided. An ARC is applied over the dielectric layer. A photoresist mask is formed on the ARC, where the photoresist mask has a thickness. The ARC is etched through. Abstract: A system comprising a moisture containing cleansing article and a visual pH indicator changing color at a pH above 4.0. The system can comprise a buffer, having preferably a pKa above 5.5. The system can comprise a set of instructions for evaluating moisture containing cleansing articles. The pH buffer of the system can have a pKa value equal to or greater than the pH of the color change of the visual pH indicator. The pH of color change of the visual pH indicator can be equal to or greater than the pH of the lotion. • Publication number: 20050277299
Abstract: The fabrication of the read head sensor components where chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) stop layer is deposited above the sensor layers, a first reactive ion etch (RIE) layer and a second RIE layer are deposited, where the second RIE layer is etchable with a different ion species than the first RIE layer. A stencil layer is then deposited and patterned to create an etching stencil having the desired magnetic read track width of the sensor. An RIE step is then conducted in which the second RIE layer is etched. An RIE step for the first RIE layer is then conducted with a different ion species. Thereafter, the sensor layers are milled where the remaining portions of the first and second RIE layers act as a milling mask. A CMP assisted liftoff step is then conducted in which the remaining portions of the ion milling mask are removed.

  • Patent number: 6975678
Abstract: An adaptive equalizer system and method uses an averaging algorithm to adjust equalization and amplitude for a data signal. Two sampled data points, spanning a sampling window, are obtained from the equalized signal. The data points are evaluated to determine when a signal condition persists long enough to require equalization adjustment, as well as evaluating persistent conditions in the amplitude of the received data signal. By monitoring persistent conditions in the equalized signal, the average signal received by the equalizer is compensated. The bit resolution of the equalizer control and the amplitude control can be selected for a desired resolution in a system. The incoming data signal is used to generate the requisite timing signals for sampling and control such that high frequency clock circuits and PLL techniques are unnecessary resulting in lower power consumption and reduced costs.

  • Patent number: 6974527
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for separating components of a sample. The method includes obtaining a first separation of the sample components along a first dimension wherein the sample components are at least partially resolved, wherein the first separation can be performed in the absence of an electric field applied to the first dimension. An electric field is used to obtain a second separation of the sample components along a second dimension comprising a plurality of substantially isolated volumes. An intensity-time data record is obtained from each of the isolated volumes, the intensity-time data records containing peaks, each peak being indicative of a migration time. The migration time of a first peak is normalized with respect to a migration time of at least a second peak to correct for migration time differences between the isolated volumes.

Abstract: Techniques for calculating the system characteristic of the adaptive filtering used for equalization and echo-suppression in a digital communications receiver, such as one used for receiving over-the-air broadcast digital television signal, are described. In these techniques, the system characteristic of the adaptive filtering is calculated from the discrete Fourier transform of successive portions of the input signal supplied to the adaptive filtering and from the discrete Fourier transform of corresponding portions of the transmitted signal, as estimated in the receiver. Receivers for implementing these techniques in various ways are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20050270294
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for hierarchically decomposing a visual or audio object within an animation into plurality of objects which can be individually edited to achieve particular animation effects. For example, a graphical object may be decomposed into a plurality of graphical sub-objects, each of which inherits an anchor point from the original object, or is given an original anchor point distinct from the original object. Each sub-object also includes a relative position for the sub-object relative to the anchor point. The path of the anchor point is combined with relative positions of the sub-objects to produce an animation for the object as a whole. This decomposition technique can greatly increase computational efficiency of an animation. It also provides for inheritance of attributes between objects and descendent sub-objects. The objects may support functions, or behaviors, such as morphing or motion blurring.
