  • Publication number: 20120269451
Abstract: There is provided an apparatus including: a low-bit criterion image generation unit that reduces a bit number assigned to a pixel in a criterion image and generates low-bit criterion image data; a low bit reference image generation unit that reduces a bit number of a reference mage and generates low-bit reference image data; and a motion vector information generation unit that detects a block-unit local motion vector from the low-bit criterion/reference images and calculates reliability of the detected local motion vector. By reducing the image bit number, it is possible to detect a local motion vector in a simple configuration. By calculating a global motion vector using a local motion vector according to reliability, even if a local motion vector is detected from an image of the reduced bit number, it is possible to calculate a global motion vector at higher accuracy.

  • Publication number: 20120268915
Abstract: A lighting module has a base, a top, a longitudinal axis from the base's center to the top's center, and a lateral edge surrounding the axis. Solid state light sources at the base emit excitation light, having an excitation wavelength and an angular distribution centered about the axis, toward the top. A lens defines a lateral edge of the module, which extends from the base to the top and reflects the excitation light. A phosphor surface of the module, shaped as a funnel having a wide end proximate the top and a narrow end proximate the base, receives and absorbs the excitation light, producing phosphor light that exits the module through the lateral edge. The phosphor light's wavelength is greater than the excitation wavelength, and has an angular distribution at each point on the phosphor surface centered about a local surface normal with respect to the phosphor surface.

  • Publication number: 20120270287
Abstract: The present invention relates to a novel method of producing 3-hydroxypropionic acid from glycerol, and more particularly to a method of producing 3-hydroxypropionic acid by culturing in a glycerol-containing medium a mutant microorganism obtained by amplifying an aldehyde dehydrogenase-encoding gene in a microorganism having the abilities to produce coenzyme B12 and produce 3-hydroxypropionic acid using glycerol as a carbon source. The present invention enables the fermentation of glycerol even under microaerobic or aerobic conditions without having to add coenzyme B12. Thus, the invention will be very suitable for the development of biological processes for producing large amounts of 3-hydroxypropionic acid.
