  • Publication number: 20070001253
Abstract: In this invention, an extended gate FET with a tin dioxide membrane is applied to fabricate a berberine sensor. There are two methods for fabricating the berberine sensor. First, it is mixed by the macromolecule polymer and electrocatalytic activities. The membrane is adsorbed on the SnO2/ITO glass and the berberine sensor is completed. Second, a polymer is used to immobilize enzyme on the substrate and detect the berberine. In this invention, the extended gate field effect transistor of the SnO2/ITO glass is applied to fabricate a durable berberine detection electrode. One of the berberine sensors that is macromolecule polymer, the optimal measurement environment is in distilled water and the best response curve can be realized, the detection rang is from 1×10?3M to 5×10?7M and the linear range is about 121.47 mV/pC. The berberine sensor based on the enzyme that optimal measurement environment is in 0.1M phosphate buffer solution at pH7.4 and better response curves can be obtained.

  • Publication number: 20070003157
Abstract: An artifact removal and quality assurance method and system for digital images, wherein a document comprising at least one printed page is scanned or the original image data are otherwise input. The input digital image data are segmented into components as to content type. The components are classified as either information or noise components. An information component image defined by the information components and a noise component image defined by the noise components are generated and displayed to the user. The user inputs quality assurance input data to indicate zero or more improperly classified components and any improperly classified component is reclassified. The component images are then regenerated and displayed to account for the reclassified component(s). The reclassified component is moved as a unit in real time as viewed by the user from an original location in one of the component images to a corresponding location in the other of the component images.

  • Publication number: 20070005646
Abstract: The subject invention relates to probabilistic models that are trained from transitions among various topics of pages visited by a sample population of search users. In one aspect, probabilistic models of topic transitions are learned for individual users and groups of users. Topic transitions for individuals versus larger groups are analyzed, wherein the relative accuracies of personal models of topic dynamics with models constructed from sets of pages drawn from similar groups and from a larger population of users are compared. To exploit temporal dynamics, the accuracy of these models are tested for predicting transitions in topics of visits at increasingly more distant times in the future. The models can be applied to search topic dynamics of tagged pages, and then utilized to predict topics of subsequent pages visited by users.

  • Patent number: 7159170
Abstract: LDPC (Low Density Parity Check) coded modulation symbol decoding. Symbol decoding is supported by appropriately modifying an LDPC tripartite graph to eliminate the bit nodes thereby generating an LDPC bipartite graph (such that symbol nodes are appropriately mapped directly to check nodes thereby obviating the bit nodes). The edges that communicatively couple the symbol nodes to the check nodes are labeled appropriately to support symbol decoding of the LDPC coded modulation signal. The iterative decoding processing may involve updating the check nodes as well as estimating the symbol sequence and updating the symbol nodes. In some embodiments, an alternative hybrid decoding approach may be performed such that a combination of bit level and symbol level decoding is performed. This LDPC symbol decoding out-performs bit decoding only. In addition, it provides comparable or better performance of bit decoding involving iterative updating of the associated metrics.

  • Patent number: 7158980
Abstract: A processor is connected to a storage device storing an incoming e-mail, a dependency database, and code for a calendar application. The dependency database can be built from an e-mail corpus containing a plurality of natural language e-mails containing scheduling information. The incoming e-mail is parsed by the processor to build a dependency tree containing word pairs from the e-mail that are found in the dependency tree. The word pairs are stored as dependency pairs in a tree structure in the dependency tree. A probability sum for the dependency tree is calculated to determine if the e-mail contains scheduling information. If the probability sum exceeds a predetermined value, the e-mail is assumed to contain scheduling information and the scheduling information is extracted from the dependency tree and exported to the calendar application.
