  • Patent number: 7176130
Abstract: A method for forming a semiconductor device (10) includes forming an organic anti-reflective coating (OARC) layer (18) over the semiconductor device (10). A tetra-ethyl-ortho-silicate (TEOS) layer (20) is formed over the OARC layer (18). The TEOS layer (20) is exposed to oxygen-based plasma at a temperature of at most about 300 degrees Celsius. In an alternative embodiment, the TEOS layer (20) is first exposed to a nitrogen-based plasma before being exposed to the oxygen-based plasma. A photoresist layer (22) is formed over the TEOS layer (20) and patterned. By applying oxygen based plasma and nitrogen based plasma to the TEOS layer (20) before applying photoresist, pattern defects are reduced.

  • Patent number: 7178093
Abstract: A PRML system with a branch estimator. The PRML system includes an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) for receiving an analog input signal and converting the analog input signal into a digital sampled signal according a sampling clock; a branch estimator for receiving the digital sampled signal and estimating each branch eigenvalue; and a Viterbi decoder for decoding an output signal according to the digital sampled signal and the branch eigenvalues. Since the PRML system employs the branch estimator to estimate the branch eigenvalues of trellis of the Viterbi decoder directly, the PRML system can be simplified and the execution speed of the PRML system can be increased.

  • Publication number: 20070030733
Abstract: A faulty storage area marking and accessing method and system applicable to a data storage unit (e.g. an embedded memory integrated in a SoC) having a plurality of storage areas, for providing the data storage unit with an automatic faulty storage area marking function for access control, so as to inspect and identify faulty storage areas and operable storage areas of the data storage unit. Therefore, when a client unit intends to access the data storage unit, the faulty storage areas are avoided being accessed and only the operable storage areas are accessed. This feature allows the SoC to still operate properly even if the embedded memory thereof has faulty storage areas, without having to replace the entire SoC.

  • Publication number: 20070030041
Abstract: A DLL-based programmable clock generator using a threshold-trigger delay element and an edge combiner is proposed. A threshold-trigger delay element with full swing complementary output signals consumes no dc power. It exhibits small delay error resulting reduced out jitter. It also increases the linearity of delay time versus control voltage. The circular edge combiner can multiply the input signal at a lower supply voltage. The rise and fall time of output signal are more symmetrical. It also present the multiplication factor of the clock generator can be easy to choose with the increasing of the number of delay elements.

  • Publication number: 20070033480
Abstract: Efficient construction of LDPC (Low Density Parity Check) codes with corresponding parity check matrix having CSI (Cyclic Shifted Identity) sub-matrices. These constructed LDPC codes can be implemented in multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) communication systems. One LDPC code construction approach uses CSI sub-matrix shift values whose shift values are checked instead of non-zero element positions within the parity check matrix (or its corresponding sub-matrices). When designing an LDPC code, this approach is efficient to find and avoid cycles (or loops) in the LDPC code's corresponding bipartite graph. Another approach involves GRS (Generalized Reed-Solomon) code based LDPC code construction. These LDPC codes can be implemented in a wide variety of communication devices, including those implemented in wireless communication systems that comply with the recommendation practices and standards being developed by the IEEE 802.11n Task Group (i.e., the Task Group that is working to develop a standard for 802.

  • Publication number: 20070030572
Abstract: A lens used for a light-emitting diode (LED) includes a body having an axis and a retaining part, wherein the body of the lens is symmetrical about the axis. The lens is mounted onto an LED and further includes a first lens part and a second lens part. When entering into the first lens part, light rays will be totally reflected through the first lens part and the light rays emitted from the first lens part will approximately parallel to the axis. When the light rays emitted from the first lens part enter into the second lens part, they will be totally reflected, and the light rays emitted from the second lens part will be approximately perpendicular to the axis. Thus, the lens has a structure that may control the emitting direction of light emitted from an LED.

  • Publication number: 20070033350
Abstract: A ruined storage area marking and accessing method and system are proposed. The method and the system are for use with a data storage unit having a plurality of storage areas, for providing the data storage unit with a ruined storage area marking and accessing function to constantly inspect ruined storage areas and operable storage areas of the storage areas of the data storage unit. Therefore, when a client unit intends to access the data storage unit, addresses of the ruined storage areas would be redirected to addresses of the operable storage areas. When being applied to a system on chip (SOC), the method allows an embedded memory with ruined storage areas to be nevertheless operative without having to replace the entire chip.

  • Patent number: 7172940
Abstract: A method of fabricating a non-volatile memory based on SONOS is disclosed. By masking the peripheral circuit area with a reverse ONO photoresist layer, the residual ONO layer that is not covered by a gate within the memory array area is etched away to expose the substrate. After the etching of the ONO layer, a channel adjustment doping is carried out subsequently using the reverse ONO photoresist layer as an implant mask, thereby forming lightly doped regions next to the gate within the memory array area. Finally, the reverse ONO photoresist layer is then stripped.

  • Publication number: 20070026486
Abstract: A chimeric transactivator comprises a transcription activation domain, a repressor protein DNA binding domain and the bacterial DNA gyrase B subunit. A target gene is operatively linked to operator DNA sequences recognized by the repressor binding domain. The addition of the antibiotic coumermycin results in a coumermycin-switched dimerization of the transactivator, which then binds to operator DNA sequences and activates transcription of the target gene. The addition of novobiocin switches off expression of the target gene by abolishing coumermycin-induced dimerization of the transactivator.
