Abstract: A method for making functionally gradient coatings by 3D printing based on electrostatic spinning and electrostatic spraying is disclosed, which uses a hybrid 3D printing system based on electrostatic spinning and electrostatic spraying including: a first injection pump, a second injection pump, a first nozzle, a second nozzle, a high voltage power supply, a core rod collector, a controller, a motor and a speed-adjusting unit. The first injection pump, the first nozzle, the high voltage power supply, the core rod collector and the controller constitute an electrostatic spinning subsystem. The second injection pump, the second nozzle, the high voltage power supply, the core rod collector and the controller constitute an electrostatic spraying subsystem. The electrostatic spinning subsystem is controlled by the controller to generate a first material coating, and the electrostatic spraying subsystem is controlled by the controller to generate a second material coating.

Abstract: A “Natural Motion Controller” identifies various motions of one or more parts of a user's body to interact with electronic devices, thereby enabling various natural user interface (NUI) scenarios. The Natural Motion Controller constructs composite motion recognition windows by concatenating an adjustable number of sequential periods of inertial sensor data received from a plurality of separate sets of inertial sensors. Each of these separate sets of inertial sensors are coupled to, or otherwise provide sensor data relating to, a separate user worn, carried, or held mobile computing device. Each composite motion recognition window is then passed to a motion recognition model trained by one or more machine-based deep learning processes. This motion recognition model is then applied to the composite motion recognition windows to identify a sequence of one or more predefined motions. Identified motions are then used as the basis for triggering execution of one or more application commands.

Abstract: Described herein are magnetic neural stimulation systems for the treatment of neurological disorders. One variation of a magnetic neural stimulation system includes magnetic stimulators shaped as helical or ramped coils, where each turn of the coil has an acute turning angle of less than 90 degrees. Also described herein are magnetic neural stimulation systems that include an array of stimulators and one or more shielding components. The shielding components modulate the density profile of the induced eddy currents to increase stimulation to targeted neural tissue regions while decreasing stimulation to non-targeted neural regions. Other variations of magnetic stimulation systems include one or more stimulators and a shield in which some of the induced eddy currents in the shield may act to attenuate the magnetic field in certain regions of the shield.

The single layer capacitive touch panel has multiple electrode groups and shielding units respectively formed between the two corresponding adjacent electrode groups. A self capacitive sensing signal of the driven electrode group is received after then. When the mutual capacitive scanning procedure is executed, a second driving signal is outputted to each of the electrode group and each of the shielding unit is connected to a ground. A mutual capacitive sensing signal from each of the driven electrode groups is received after then. Therefore, the self capacitance value of the self capacitive sensing signal is not increased greatly since the shielding units are not connected to the ground.

The hydrofluoroalkene blowing agent has 3 to 5 carbon atoms and a boiling point between 10° C. and 40° C. at 1 atmosphere pressure. Embodiments of rigid foams may have high closed cell content and are particularly well suited for thermal insulation.

Abstract: The sound wave and temperature sensor of the present disclosure can be used for detecting whether a fire accident occurs within a specific area without risking altering or damaging existing sensors, and can be a part of an intelligent home security system. One aspect is to provide an integrated sound wave and temperature sensor that can efficiently work together with the existing sensors. An example apparatus can include a sound sensor, a temperature sensor, a communication circuit, and a microcontroller. The microcontroller can be configured to, responsive to the sound sensor detecting an audible alarm emitted from an environmental detector, determine whether an ambient temperature exceeds a threshold value. Further, the microcontroller can, responsive to both the sound sensor detecting the audible alarm and the ambient temperature exceeding a threshold value, cause the communication circuit to transmit an alert to a recipient.

Overvoltage on the wordline driver and NFETs of the SRAM cell are eliminated by applying a power gating mode and lowering the power supply voltage.

The image capture device acquires video of a current parking area. A computer processor in communication with the image capture device is configured to receive the video data and define a region of interest in the video data. The processor is further configured to perform a spatial transform on the ROI to transform the ROI to a normalized geometric space. The processor is further configured to apply features of a detected object in the normalized geometric space to a vehicle classifier—previously trained with samples acquired from a normalized camera perspective similar to the normalized geometric space—and determine the occupancy of the current parking area using an output of the classifier.

Abstract: The invention is related to a cost-effective method for making a silicone hydrogel contact lens having a crosslinked hydrophilic coating thereon. A method of the invention involves heating a silicone hydrogel contact lens in an aqueous solution in the presence of a water-soluble, highly branched, thermally-crosslinkable hydrophilic polymeric material having positively-charged azetidinium groups, to and at a temperature from about 40° C. to about 140° C. for a period of time sufficient to covalently attach the thermally-crosslinkable hydrophilic polymeric material onto the surface of the silicone hydrogel contact lens through covalent linkages each formed between one azetidinium group and one of the reactive functional groups on and/or near the surface of the silicone hydrogel contact lens, thereby forming a crosslinked hydrophilic coating on the silicone hydrogel contact lens. Such method can be advantageously implemented directly in a sealed lens package during autoclave.
