  • Publication number: 20140034955
Abstract: The present invention discloses a method of making nano-MOS devices having a metal gate, thereby avoiding the poly depletion effect, and enhancing the MOS device's performance. The method forms metal gates by depositing a metal film over sidewall surfaces on two sides of a polycrystalline semiconductor layer. The metal in the metal film diffuses toward the sidewall surfaces of the polycrystalline semiconductor layer and forms, after annealing, metal-semiconductor compound nanowires (i.e., metal gates) on the sidewall surfaces of the polycrystalline semiconductor layer. Thus, high-resolution lithography is not required to form metal compound semiconductor nanowires, resulting in significant cost saving. At the same time, a nano-MOS device is also disclosed, which includes a metal gate, thereby avoiding the poly depletion effect, and resulting in enhanced MOS device performance.

  • Publication number: 20140037465
Abstract: One or more techniques and/or systems are disclosed for increasing compressed air efficiency in a pump utilizes an air efficiency device in order to optimize the amount of a compressed air in a pump. The air efficiency device may allow for controlling the operation of the air operated diaphragm pump by reducing the flow of compressed air supplied to the pump as the pump moves between first and second diaphragm positions. A sensor may be used to monitor velocity of the diaphragm assemblies. In turn, full position feedback is possible so that the pump self-adjusts to determine the optimum, or close to optimum, turndown point of the diaphragm assemblies. As such, air savings is achieved by minimizing the amount of required compressed air.

  • Publication number: 20140036876
Abstract: Techniques for facilitating device-to-device (D2D) communications using a high efficiency distributed channel access scheme are generally described herein. In some examples, a communication zone allocated for wireless D2D communications is divided into resource contention and scheduled transmission portions. The resource contention segment may be used to transmit a request message from a transmitting device to a receiving device (a request-to-send message), and transmit a response to the request message from the receiving device to the transmitting device (a clear-to-send message). The response can indicate a time for the data transmission to occur during the scheduled transmission segment. During the scheduled transmission segment, the scheduled data transmission and other D2D data transmissions among the various devices will be performed. In further examples, contention access techniques may be used during the resource contention segment to manage access to the resource channel.
