  • Publication number: 20050026747
Abstract: Method and arrangement for providing a powertrain (1, 3, 9) for motor vehicles that includes an internal combustion engine (1) and a stagegeared gearbox (9), which has a direct gear and an indirect gear with intermeshing toothed gears (12, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23,). A control element (45, 48) is configured, in response to an input signal indicating that a direct gear is engaged, to be capable of controlling and/or regulating the engine (1) so that the engine can deliver a higher maximum permitted torque than when the direct gear is not engaged. The increase in the maximum permitted torque is allowed when the efficiency of the powertrain (1, 3, 9) with direct gear engaged and increased engine torque is superior to the efficiency of the powertrain (1, 3, 9) when any of the indirect gears (12, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23,) having a lower maximum permitted engine output torque are engaged.

  • Publication number: 20050013297
Abstract: The present invention relates to a control system and communications systems that make it possible to transport traffic in a connection-oriented mode using the network infrastructure (30) and hardware of a traditionally connectionless network (34). According to the invention a traditionally connectionless network is complemented with a connection-oriented control plane (37). A subset (38b) of the address space (38) that in a connectionless network is used to define destination addresses is reserved for connection-oriented transport and is used to define path labels. An advantage of the invention is that an inexpensive Ethernet infrastructure (30) can be used for implementing a connection-oriented network (35).

  • Publication number: 20040260443
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for up-shifting of an automatic or semiautomatic gearbox which is connected to an engine equipped with an additional engine brake, which method comprises determining an expected value of the speed derivative (ESGe) of said engine during said gear-shifting. The invention is characterized in that said method comprises measuring the speed derivative (ESGm) of the engine during said gear-shifting (21), calculation of a difference value which corresponds to the difference between the measured value of the speed derivative (ESGm) and the expected value of the speed derivative (ESGe), and updating the expected value of the speed derivative (ESGe) to a new value which more closely corresponds to said measured value of the speed derivative (ESGm) if said difference value exceeds a predetermined threshold value (x). The invention also relates to a device for such engine braking.

  • Publication number: 20040157703
Abstract: Motor-driven tractor vehicle with an automatic clutch and gearbox between the engine and the vehicle drive wheels, and with means (6, 8; 20) which, after the vehicle has been stopped, can identify whether a load carrier (2, 11) has been attached or detached. The gearbox and the clutch are controlled by an electronic control unit (19) on the basis of a set position of a manual gear selector. The control unit is arranged, with the gear selector in the position for automatic shifting, to select, at starting off, a starting-off gear, which is determined by a first gear selection strategy stored in the control unit on the basis of information stored in the control unit on rig weight, road grade, rolling resistance, etc. The control unit is disposed at start, at least after the indication that a load carrier has been decoupled, to select the starting-off gear in accordance with a second gear selection strategy.

  • Patent number: 6771779
Abstract: A system and method is disclosed to remove cross talk terms from speech signals in a multi-party conference system using an estimator to first estimate the respective cross talk terms for each of the said plurality of users. In one embodiment, these terms are then multiplied with a filter based on the estimated cross talk terms. Source speech signals may thereby be recovered from the plurality of multi-party conference users without the cross talk.

  • Patent number: 6661806
Abstract: A method is provided for achieving admission control to a public connectionless packet network. This provides a method of access control which allows service differentiation in a form which permits a user to receive a quality of service guarantee which is better than a “best effort” service. Each transmission by a user across the network includes a ticket message sent to the user from the network. The ticket message includes information about the priority level of the transmission, and can be used in a connectionless network to determine the resources available for future transmission requests.

  • Patent number: 6658107
Abstract: Frequency domain nonlinear processing techniques are applied in the context of echo suppression. According to exemplary embodiments, the filtering characteristic of a nonlinear processor is dynamically adjusted by comparing the power spectrum of a residual echo component of a communication signal with that of the overall communication signal itself. For example, the filtering characteristic can be adjusted so that the nonlinear processor blocks only those signal frequencies in which the residual echo is, in some sense, dominant. The disclosed techniques make full duplex communication possible during the entirety of a conversation, even while residual echo is being actively suppressed.

  • Patent number: 6564184
Abstract: A digital filter design apparatus for noise suppression by spectral subtraction includes a first spectrum estimator for determining a high frequency resolution noisy speech power spectral density estimate from a noisy speech signal block. A second spectrum estimator determines a high frequency resolution background noise power spectral density estimate from a background noise signal block. Averaging units form a piece-wise constant noisy speech power spectral density estimate and a piece-wise constant background noise power spectral density estimate. These averaging units are controlled by devices for adapting the length of individual segments to the shape of the high frequency-resolution noisy speech power spectral density estimate and for using the same segmentation in both piecewise constant estimates.

  • Patent number: 6563056
Abstract: A printed circuit board (PCB) assembly provided with an insulation transformer, which acts as an insulation barrier between two electrical systems. The printed circuit board (PCB) assembly has at least two separate PCB sections, and the insulation transformer is used as a support structure to mechanically interconnect the sections. Since the PCB sections are separated, the PCB sections no longer affect the creepage distance for the insulation barrier. Instead the insulating material and the physical design of the transformer determines the minimum required creepage distance. The insulating material of the transformer generally has a considerably higher CTI value than the PCB material, leading to a relatively short creepage distance being required. By breaking the creepage path on the PCB, the size of transformer will be substantially reduced compared to the prior art arrangements.
