  • Publication number: 20050079540
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing molecule libraries at predetermined locations on a substrate surface by means of sequential chemical reactions involving the use of combinatorial sealing matrices. The topological structures applied to the sealing matrices cover individual areas of the substrate surface in a defined order thereby preventing different partial areas of the substrate surface from undergoing chemical conversions. Several sealing matrices having different topological relief structures can be used in a number of reaction cycles for the synthesis of molecule libraries consisting of complex chemical compounds. The sealing matrices are made of an elastic material such as polydimethylsiloxane. The synthesis involves the use of simple and highly optimized standard methods and standard chemicals of the solid phase synthesis. The reaction rate is accelerated by carrying out the reaction steps in a microfluidic flow-through system.

  • Publication number: 20040203085
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for highly parallel production of complex molecule libraries on the surface of a substrate with the aid of regeneratable matrix dies. According to prior art, the production of molecule libraries on a support is expensive, and requires a lot of time and a large amount of apparatus. By using regeneratable matrix dies it is possible to simplify and accelerate the production of molecule libraries, especially DNA and protein libraries, in a significant manner. The matrix-10 die is made of an elastic material such as polydimethylsiloxane and includes locally-bound matrix molecules on the surface thereof, said molecules being used as a model for the synthesis of copy molecules. The copy molcules are transferred to the target surface by means of a contact printing method. The matrix molecules remain on the die for further synthesis and print cycles which can repeated several times. The inventive method is suitable for copying and reproducing differently produced molecule arrays.

  • Patent number: 6715443
Abstract: A feeder device for feeding animals with food product includes a housing divided into a plurality of compartments with individual pivotable bottom walls and an operating system mounted on the housing to control opening of the bottom walls to release the food product contained therein. The operating system includes a locking mechanism located adjacent each bottom wall to releasably secure it in a closed position. An opening mechanism successively activates the locking mechanisms and opens the bottom walls. A timer device including an electronic controller and a limit switch electrically coupled to the opening mechanism controls the operation of the latter at the beginning of a pre-determined time interval. The limit switch is activated by the opening mechanism and stops operation of the opening mechanism during the pre-determined time interval.

  • Patent number: 6596346
Abstract: A method for fabricating silicone elastomer stamps with hydrophilic surfaces is provided. The concept of polymer grafting is used to produce the stamps. The stamps thus produced have the great advantage that grafting of a thin hydrophilic polymer on a hydrophobic PDMS surface can render PDMS stamps permanently hydrophilic. With such stamps it becomes possible to print aqueous or highly polar inks reproducibly over days and weeks.

  • Patent number: 6537499
Abstract: A method and also a device is proposed for identification of a substance, preferably comprising biochemical molecules. In a first step a probe and said substance will be brought into contact, afterwards in a second step the probe and said substance will be withdrawn from each other, while measuring the value of at least one physical parameter characterizing the interaction between said probe and said substance and comparing said measured value with a reference value for identification.

  • Patent number: 5989615
Abstract: The removal of albedo in the preparation of a citrus fruit for consumption, in which a known aqueous solution of pectinase enzyme is used for its known albedo-removal function, but in the present circumstances a vacuum is used to primarily draw the pectinase enzyme to the interface of the albedo and the citrus fruit and only nominally to the interface of the albedo and the peel of the citrus fruit, so that removal of the peel carries with it the albedo and uncovers the citrus fruit in a desirable albedo-free condition.
