  • Publication number: 20180157693
Abstract: Methods and apparatus consistent with the invention provide the ability to organize, index, search, and present time series data based on searches. Time series data are sequences of time stamped records occurring in one or more usually continuous streams, representing some type of activity. In one embodiment, time series data is organized into discrete events with normalized time stamps and the events are indexed by time and keyword. A search is received and relevant event information is retrieved based in whole or in part on the time indexing mechanism, keyword indexing mechanism, or statistical indices calculated at the time of the search.

  • Publication number: 20180156411
Abstract: The present invention relates to a lighting device, in particular a headlamp for vehicles, at least comprising an array of light sources, consisting of first and second light sources being mounted within the same flat or curved plane, and a projecting optical system arranged to project light emitted by the light sources in a forward direction of the lighting device. At least one shifting element is arranged in front of said first light sources. The shifting element generates real or virtual emission positions of the light of said first light sources shifted towards or away from the projecting optical system with respect to emission positions of said second light sources. With the proposed lighting device, in addition to the main lighting function of illumination, a pattern or signature can be projected at one or several additional image planes. The lighting device thus e.g. allows the additional projection of branding or safety patterns.

  • Publication number: 20180158356
Abstract: A system and method for training a pilot to operate an aircraft in sudden-onset reduced-visibility conditions is disclosed. The system includes electrooptic material having an optical transmittance that varies with an electrical signal applied to the material and a power supply to provide the electrical signal to the material. The electrooptic material is disposed to restrict the pilot's visibility outside the aircraft when the electrooptic material is in a low-optical-transmittance state. The system further includes a flight-safety sensor that sets the output of the power supply to correspond to an optical transmittance state of the electrooptic material that does not substantially restrict the pilot's visibility outside the aircraft when flight conditions are deemed unsafe. The method includes reducing the optical transmittance of the material to restrict the pilot's visibility outside the aircraft in a manner unexpected to the pilot at the time of the transmittance reduction.

  • Publication number: 20180155313
Abstract: A method and a device for manufacturing lactide, whereby crude lactide, being prepared by means of depolymerization of lactic acid oligomers, is purified by means of a distillation step. The prepared crude lactide is maintained for a period of at least 5 hours in a reaction vessel at a temperature between 97° C. and 200° C. prior to the distillation step. Keeping the lactide during a period of time in a reaction vessel leads to a decrease of the lactic acid content and an increase of the lactic acid oligomer concentration, so that the resulting crude lactide can be more efficiently purified during subsequent distillation. A pre-distilling step gives additional advantages.

  • Publication number: 20180153560
Abstract: The invention provides a surgical tool driver having a proximal end having a coupling and a distal end comprising a surgical tool connector having a release sleeve for disconnecting the surgical tool. The surgical tool connector further includes a locking member having a locking head adapted for coupling with at least one surgical tool. The locking member is slidingly disposed and at least substantially enclosed within the center of the driver and closely interfaces therewith so as to minimize seams, gaps or openings. The locking member has an axial range of motion which assures that between an unlock and lock position, the locking head is embedded in the driver in the unlock position and then extends axially outwardly, in snug juxtaposition with the driver, to a lock position which is capable of locking a surgical tool to the tool driver in a manner so as to avoid the exposure of a significant seam, gap or opening during activation and so helping prevent debris and/or bone chips from entering the driver.

  • Patent number: 9988930
Abstract: A method of predicting the condition of a compressor with respect to rotating stall is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of: i) comparing the difference between the largest and smallest values of a variable occurring during a time period with a difference threshold, the variable at any given time being dependent on the compressor exit pressure at that time, and ii) predicting either that the compressor is in rotating stall or that the compressor is not in rotating stall in dependence upon the result of the comparison.

  • Patent number: 9991898
Abstract: A phase-locked loop (PLL) has a primary loop (with a reference clock) and a secondary loop (with a stable reference clock). The secondary loop may include a fractional-N PLL, and may include a secondary loop filter, oscillator, output clock counter, and phase predictor using a rational secondary frequency control word (FCW). The primary loop has a register sampling the oscillator phase from the counter, and a phase predictor which uses a primary fractional-N FCW to calculate a predicted phase as an integer number. The primary loop forwards the integer difference between the sampled phase and the predicted phase to a primary loop filter, which outputs the secondary FCW. The primary loop filter has a much lower bandwidth than the secondary loop filter. The PLL may have multiple primary loops, with a hitless switching function. A primary loop may have sleep mode. The PLL may also provide an oscillator sleep function.
