  • Patent number: 7197063
Abstract: Method and system are disclosed for providing advanced RAKE delay control in wireless communications systems. The RAKE delay control method and system of the invention is capable of tracking presently known paths over time and merging the tracking results with new path searcher results. The invention is particularly suitable for devices where the resources (e.g., computational load, power) available for detecting the multipath components are limited. The result is a resource efficient architecture for positioning the RAKE fingers to best extract the signal power available in the channel and to utilize the inherent diversity due to the multipath nature of the signal.

  • Patent number: 7196707
Abstract: When a Bézier spline is fitted to a plurality of points the two tangent handles at each control point can be very different in length. A method of fitting a second spline to the first spline that has tangent handles of equal length at each control point is provided. A point is found on the first spline that is close to the midpoint between the two control points defining the tangent handles. This point is a new control point on the second spline. Tangent handles to the new control point are then found such that they have a slope equal to the tangent to the first spline at the new control point, the sum of their lengths is equal to the sum of the original two tangent handles and their lengths are equal to each other. A second spline found in this way closely approximates the first spline. The lengths of the tangent handles may be adjusted to provide a better fit.

  • Patent number: 7196690
Abstract: According to one aspect of the invention, a movable cursor control device is provided for controlling a cursor on a display screen of a digital processing system. One exemplary cursor control device comprises a housing, an electromagnetic emitting device coupled to the housing, and an electromagnetic detector coupled to the housing. The electromagnetic detector detects reflections of signals emitted from the electromagnetic emitting device and determines when the housing has been lifted from a surface. In another aspect of the invention, an exemplary method is provided for controlling a cursor on a display screen of a digital processing system. The exemplary method includes holding the cursor relative to an object on the display screen using a cursor control device activated by a user, detecting that the user no longer activates the cursor control device, and detecting that the user has lifted the cursor control device from a surface when the cursor control device is no longer activated by the user.

  • Publication number: 20070064509
Abstract: A method and a device are described for transmission of control information for the adjustment of operating parameters of drivers in the data interface of a RAM module by means of a controller, with control bits for adjustment purposes being sent during an adjustment mode by the controller as a burst of data bits at the data clock rate to the RAM module. According to the invention, each control bit which is sent from the controller via the data channel in the burst is represented by a sequence of n?2 data bits, which have a binary value corresponding to the relevant control bit and follow one another at the data clock rate. The binary value of each control bit sent via the data channel is determined in the RAM module by detection of the binary value of the sent burst within the relevant sequence at a time at which the m-th data bit in the sequence appears, where m>1.

  • Publication number: 20070064016
Abstract: For determining the behavior of a flexible system submitted to predetermined displacement boundary conditions, a process uses geometrically non-linear finite element analysis. The process has a plurality of incremental steps within a total Lagrangian formalism with co-rotational update. In each incremental step, one computes for a finite element of the flexible system a displacement vector, having translational and rotational components, at the nodes of the finite element. This computation of the displacement vector is carried out by minimizing the energy of the flexible system when the system is submitted to a fraction of the predetermined displacement. For a given finite element, the co-rotational update is carried out by computing an updated elementary frame of reference, without considering the bending rotational components of the displacement vectors computed at the nodes of the finite element. The properties of this co-rotational update make all computations similar, hence simpler and easier.

  • Publication number: 20070064873
Abstract: The field of the invention is that of X-ray generator tubes. The invention relates more specifically to the arrangement of the emitting surfaces which are the source of the X-ray radiation. It is known that the inclination of the emitting surface known as the target to the electron beam governs the intensity of X-ray emission and the resolution of the tube. The target carrier assembly according to the invention allows this inclination to be set according to the desired application. For high-energy applications requiring a cooling circuit, the arrangement of the component also allows an appreciable improvement to the geometry of said cooling circuit so as to appreciably improve its efficiency. Several layouts of cooling circuit are presented, together with methods for producing them.

  • Publication number: 20070065263
Abstract: A trailer includes a deck frame which can be supported in a lowered transport position in which the deck frame is spaced above the ground below a height of the wheels corresponding to a deck between configuration and a raised transport position in which the deck frame is spaced above the ground substantially at or above the height of the wheels corresponding to a deck over configuration. Consumers are thus only required to purchase a single trailer to meet the advantages of both trailer configurations. Load supports, independent of a lift mechanism of the trailer, are provided in addition to the linkage which controls displacement of the deck frame between the two positions to ensure that the deck frame is supported on the wheels in a manner so as to safely bear a load on the deck frame in both the lowered and raised positions.
