  • Publication number: 20070067002
Abstract: Disclosed are methods for regulating neurotrophin levels within a human body. The invention utilizes an implantable signal generator to deliver stimulation to neural tissue elements. Alternatively, an implantable pump may be utilized to delivery one or more drugs. The implanted device delivers treatment therapy to the neural tissue to thereby alter the level of neurotrophic factors such as BDNF expressed by the influenced neural tissue. A sensor may be used to detect various symptoms of a nervous system disorder. A microprocessor algorithm may then analyze the output from the sensor to regulate the treatment therapy delivered to the body. The invention describes a novel method to regulate the intrinsic levels of neurotrophins and may be used to treat patients with neurological and cognitive disorders.

  • Publication number: 20070067225
Abstract: The present invention generates a ranked display listing of product providers (such as hotels) in response to a user query wherein the rank is generated based upon a performance factor determined by the system. The invention generates the performance factor based on the popularlity of a given product provider as indicated by the number of transactions occurring between users and the product provider. The performance factor may also be based on the relative economic performance of the various product providers such that the system may display product providers in an order that is based on on a combination of the relative popularity and the relative economic performance of the product providers as measured over a selected period.

  • Publication number: 20070067001
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for inducing neurogenesis within a human. The invention utilizes an implantable signal generator to deliver high frequency stimulation to deep brain tissue elements. The implanted device delivers treatment therapy to the brain to thereby induce neurogenesis by the human. A sensor may be used to detect various symptoms of nervous system discovery. A microprocessor algorithm may then analyze the output from the sensor to regulate the stimulation and/or drug therapy delivered to the brain.

  • Patent number: 7192180
Abstract: The escapement includes a large plate 4 carrying a first finger 14 and a blocking member 6 carrying a second finger 11 and a locking pallet-stone 7. The first and second fingers 14 and 11 are shaped such that when the large plate 4 rotates in a first direction a, the first finger 14 drives the second 11 which moves around a first side 20 of said first finger to release the locking pallet-stone. Re-engagement occurs when the second finger 11 climbs over a vertical flank 25 of a notch 22 made in a small plate 23. When the large plate 4 rotates in a second direction b, opposite to the first, the first finger 14 drives the second finger 11 which moves around a second side 21, opposite to the first, of said first finger 14 to keep the locking pallet-stone 7 in the escapement wheel.

  • Patent number: 7192518
Abstract: A circuit for filtering a liquid, comprising a storage vessel (10), a pump (17), a consumer device (14), a filter element (23) and a controller (24). The circuit maybe used in systems where liquid, e.g. water, oil or fuel, is filtered and at least part thereof is returned to the storage vessel. Liquid is pumped in the circuit from the storage vessel by the pump through lines (11, 13, 15, 16), filtered by filter (23) and supplied to the consumer device. Excess liquid not required by the consumer device (14) is returned via return line (15) to the controller (24) which directs the liquid either to the filter or the storage vessel—depending on liquid temperature. The controller (24) and the filter are arranged in a common housing (18) having connectors for an unfiltered liquid inlet (19), a filtered liquid outlet (20), a liquid return (21) and a liquid outlet (22). The connectors (19–22) enable rapid assembly of the circuit.

  • Patent number: 7194404
Abstract: A system, method and article of manufacture utilize word chunks to enhance word prediction. At least one of selectable words and word chunks are displayed in response to receipt of an input character. Thereafter, a selection of a displayed word or word chunk is received, and in response to receiving selection of a displayed word chunk, selectable words including the selected word chunk are displayed. A word chunk includes a word portion used in the formation of other words and includes a predetermined identifier, identifying it as a word chuck. Thus, the combination of chunking of parts of agglutinated words in combination with letter input activations reduces the overall number of input activations to complete a word, and further reduces the amount of choices to select from at any point during retrieval of the word.

  • Patent number: 7194617
Abstract: A method for authorizing the rendering of a digital recording. A first section and a last section of a track is first identified. A watermark is then decoded from the first and last sections of the track. It is then determined if at least one reserved bit is marked in the watermark in each of the first and last sections of the track. If so, it is determined if the sequence IDs of sections interposed between the first and last sections of the track are in sequential order. If both conditions are met, the rendering is authorized.

  • Patent number: 7193460
Abstract: According to one exemplary embodiment, a circuit arrangement includes a power amplifier configured to receive an RF input signal. The circuit arrangement further includes a control circuit configured to receive and convert the RF input signal to an output DC voltage. The control circuit includes a voltage amplifier coupled to a peak detector circuit, where the peak detector circuit outputs the output DC voltage. The circuit arrangement further includes an analog control bias circuit coupling the output DC voltage to a bias input of the power amplifier. The output DC voltage causes the power amplifier to have a quiescent current that increases in a way that is substantially logarithmic with respect to the amplitude of the RF input signal. An increase in the RF input power can cause a substantially linear increase in the output DC voltage, where the RF input power is measured in dBm.
