  • Publication number: 20060144937
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for check code line recognition at a point-of-sale terminal having OCR and MICR capabilities. Images of problematic characters are extracted and automatically transmitted to a remote location for on-line manual validation or data entry. Video coding of problematic characters is performed for the correction of either or both MICR and OCR results. The correctly encoded characters are returned to the point of sale within a few seconds, and combined as necessary with locally recognized characters, to assemble a correct code line for entry into a payment system.

  • Publication number: 20060144921
Abstract: A closed loop location detection system for use in monitoring simultaneously the presence or absence of objects in at least two locations, comprises at least one detectable element per location and adapted to be associated with a respective object to be monitored, and at least one detecting device adapted to detect the detectable elements of the objects and so determine whether objects are present in, or absent form, all of the locations being monitored. Means are provided for causing an object to be fed to a location determined to be devoid of objects by the detecting device. Typically, the closed loop location detection system uses RFID technology, e.g. the detection device comprises at least one antenna and the detectable element comprising at least one RF tag. There may be provided one such antenna for each location to be monitored, whereby for a given location, a respective antenna detects the presence or absence of a respective tag thereby determining whether an object is present in this given location.

  • Publication number: 20060149697
Abstract: A method of providing a context-dependent tile for display on a client device includes: receiving at a server device a request from a client device for a tile, the tile being associated with a context identifier stored on the server device; requesting from the client device a context data portion that is associated with the context identifier, the context data portion being selected from context data stored on the client device; receiving at the server device the context data portion from the client device; and sending the tile from the server device to the client device, the tile being generated using the context data portion. The method may be implemented so that the request of the context data portion may be performed by sending a dummy tile to the client device. Additionally, the server device may retrieve the context identifier from a context repository.

  • Patent number: 7073157
Abstract: An architecture for nanoscale electronics is disclosed. The architecture comprises arrays of crossed nanoscale wires having selectively programmable crosspoints. Nanoscale wires of one array are shared by other arrays, thus providing signal propagation between the arrays. Nanoscale signal restoration elements are also provided, allowing an output of a first array to be used as an input to a second array. Signal restoration occurs without routing of the signal to non-nanoscale wires.

  • Patent number: 7072478
Abstract: A microphone preamplifier. An electrical signal from a microphone is received via a shielded cable by an input stage cascaded with an output stage. The input stage contains an impedance converter and a phase inverter and receives feedback that reduces input capacitance, actively shields the coaxial cable, and stabilizes the input stage. The output stage contains a buffer and output driver and provides amplified versions of the input stage output. The preamplifier contains means for transformerless phantom powering the microphone and the microphone preamplifier, for sharing current between the input and the output stages, and for limiting the frequency at the output of the microphone.
